Christ Church in Philadelphia

Greetings!

The Bridge is kicking off a new year of programming with an all-new email format.  Stay tuned as we continue to tweak this thing ... but I promise to keep the emails to a minimum, however spiffy they end up looking.

Many thanks to everyone who came out to help with the parish BBQ last Wednesday.  Our last outdoor worship and fellowship will be TOMORROW, 8/17.  We gather in the North Garden at 6pm - although if you can come a little earlier and help set up, that's always appreciated.  Hope to see you there!

In the fall, we continue to meet one Sunday a month for discussion and fellowship after the 11am service. This year we will examine the theme of "peace" from many different angles - what is peace? How can we achieve it - in our prayer life, our families, our city? How does our local justice work contribute to building a more peaceful world?

Mark your calendar! The Bridge will meet on September 25th, October 23rd, November 20th and December 18th of 2011.  There will also be some fantastic "extracurricular" events in the coming months -- look for a First Friday Happy Hour in September, and a creepy twilight tour of the burial grounds in October.

Want to get more involved, host a social gathering, or suggest a reading/topic that we can explore?  Drop me an email or give me a call.

Cheers,

The Rev. Kate Spelman

Swim Party and BBQ - August 20th!
Tired of sweating it out in the city?  Bridge stalwart Todd B. has offered up the use of his pool for an afternoon of swimming and relaxation on August 20th.  There will be burgers and dogs on the grill, and wine, beer and soda as well.  We need some folks to bring sides to help make this a great time.  Click here to RSVP to Todd.  Please let him know what you can bring and whether you can offer or need a ride from Center City.

Give some time, see some art...

The Philly Fringe/Live Arts Festival is folks to volunteer for the festival.  Roles include taking tickets, serving as an usher, and something called "fire watch."  For every shift you volunteer for, you'll get a voucher to see a show. You will definitely see Rev. Kate ushering quite a bit.

Click here for more info, from the Fringe/Live Arts site.

Stay in Touch!
