Eastertide at Christ Church
Friday, May 27, 2011
Whoever you are, and wherever you find yourself on the journey of faith, you are welcome at Christ Church, as you are, to receive the blessings of God so freely given.
Friends:

The devastation of the tornadoes through the south and midwest has been horrendous.  In the name of our congregation, I have sent contributions to Christ's Church in Joplin, known to us because one of our tour guides, Caroline, was a member there.  On the church's website are haunting twitter feeds like, "Stephanie Dalton could use help today packing and sorting what remains of her house."

Contributions can also be made through Episcopal Relief and Development.  Specify the U.S. Disaster Fund in any contribution.

At the Christ Church Burial Ground (5th and Arch Streets) on Memorial Day there will be a 12 noon tribute to those who died in service of their country and a wreath-laying ceremony at the grave of Marine Lieutenant Jacob Motte Huger who died in 1798 and the placing of flags at the graves of Revolutionary War soldiers.  Special prayers and music for our armed forces and fallen heroes are part of the Sunday service.

On Sunday, June 5th, during the 10:10 AM Forum, I've asked parishioners Gail Larson and Sheila Brown to report about our tutoring program at the Charter High School for Architecture and the new program helping students to prepare their college entrance essays.  Come and hear how you can be involved.

Looking for a way to volunteer and help Christ Church be hospitable and lovely for all our visitors?  Come and work at the Parish Work Day and Garden Day on Saturday June 11, starting at 9 AM.  RSVP here.
