Eastertide at Christ Church
Friday, May 6, 2011
Whoever you are, and wherever you find yourself on the journey of faith, you are welcome at Christ Church, as you are, to receive the blessings of God so freely given.
Friends:

How blessed we are at Christ Church through the ministry of the Christ Church Choir and creativity and leadership of Parker Kitterman.  Tonight, they offer the First Friday Concert at Christ Church, 8 PM.  Though I suspect Parker will cringe at this terminology, I can say that, having looked at the program (available here),  they are performing the "greatest hits" of the past year.  I hope you can be there to show your love and support.  Remember, park legally.  "Attending Services" placards do not work in cars on First Friday.

How does on preach one week after the killing of Osama Bin Laden, in this season that emphasizes reconciliation and forgiveness?  As I have been preparing for this Sunday, I have been very much helped by these two prayers from the Book of Common Prayer--A prayer of Thanksgiving for Heroic Service, a Prayer for Our Enemies, and For the Human Family.  Read them here.  The biblical readings for this Sunday are found here.  In the Forum at 10:10, our discussion will be on the events of the past week, and God's expectations for our common future.

Make your mother happy!  Bring her to church, or tell her you're going.  Give glory to God the father, who is the mother of us all.

What a blessing Mike Landis' and Palmer Hartl's support group for those seeking employment has been.  It's moving to Thursday evenings at 6:30 PM, to be more accessible to more parishioners.  Details in the weekly announcements.
