Eastertide at Christ Church
Friday, April 29, 2011

Whoever you are, and wherever you
find yourself on the journey of faith, you are welcome at Christ
Church, as you are, to receive the blessings of God so freely given.

| Friends:
The Second Sunday of Easter is often referred to as "Low Sunday" for a variety of reasons, but the joke always is that, compared to the Sunday before, attendance is very low. Remember that all seven Sundays of Easter are celebrations of the Resurrection, new life and new hope. Let's make this Sunday, "No Low Sunday."
Plan carefully your route to church if coming from the west, as the Broad Street Run makes crossing Broad nearly impossible. Recommended approach is from the 676 (Vine Street Expressway).
Please note that the First Friday concert at Christ Church on May 6th features our own choir, singing some of the most beautiful music that they have offered over the last year. Please plan to be there. It begins at 8 PM.
Do you like Madeira, my dear? Though I suspect this is a violation of some sacred canon, purchase of a bottle of a recreation of Ben Franklin's favorite Madeira benefits the Christ Church Preservation Trust. Read the article in Inquirer here.
Go ahead, admit it. You were up at 5 AM this morning, like we were, and you loved the Royal Wedding, and you thought the dress was perfect. I am always moved when seeing the tradition from which we descend--The Church of England--at its finest. All services this Sunday will be conducted with a slight English accent.
