Greetings!
Please come to Christ Church next Wednesday evening, August 11, at 6 PM and welcome Parker Kitterman, our new Director of Music. We're lucky that Parker's first day on the job happens to be our first outdoor worship service followed by a community barbecue (also on August 18 and 25th). I hope we are there in droves to make Parker feel right at home as he moves from the Bronx. Let us know if you're coming so we have the food ready, and let us know if you can bring a side dish. Email Cecilia, or click here to help us test our new automated RSVP system through our members website (registration required).
If you can't be there, be among the first to send him a welcoming email. Be sure to tell him your favorite hymn.
Two articles ran this week on the front page of the Inquirer about Christ Church during the Depression, sparked by the discovery a message written by a plumber who helped build Washburn House. Article one is here, and article two, here.
This past Thursday, we learned that Bishop Charles Bennison will return as our diocesan bishop on August 16. A full account of these diocesan developments, and my response, is found on our website by clicking here. Please note that the Bishop's return will be the topic Sunday morning at the 10:10 forum, and the Diocese is holding an open forum Sunday afternoon at the Philadelphia Cathedral.
