The Christ Church Community Update
For Sunday, May 9, 2010
Whoever you are, and wherever you find yourself on the journey of faith, you are welcome at Christ Church, as you are, to receive the blessings of God so freely given.
May 9--The Sixth Sunday of Easter

9 AM--The Holy Eucharist, Hymns and Sermon
11 AM--Morning Prayer and Sermon, with Choir and Hymns (no Eucharist)
Each Sunday at 10:10 AM, the Rector's Forum gathers in Neighborhood House for Bible Study and theological conversation.
Greetings!

The sound of construction is deafening in our office today.  Floors in our new reception area are being sanded.  Slate for the new entryway is being delivered.  Glass for the atrium is getting glazed.  I don't think the guys installing the elevator are getting along with the electrician; there seems to be some yelling about which way is up on the construction drawings.

We have really turned up the heat on our construction manager Haverstick-Borthwick; their schedule planned for most of the construction on Neighborhood House and the North Garden to be completed this week, so that we would have time to clean the place up and be ready for our dedication on Sunday, May 23rd, the Feast of Pentecost.  I have learned through five years of construction that it's always a rush at the end, but we will be ready.

Mark your calendars:  ONE SERVICE, SUNDAY, MAY 23, 10 AM, followed by the dedication of the new entrances to Neighborhood House.

In case you missed it, here is the link to the announcement about our new director of music, Parker Kitterman, who begins his ministry at Christ Church in mid-August.  Congratulations, also, to our Interim Organist and Choirmaster, Diane Meredith Belcher, who has just been called as Organist and Choirmaster at Old St. Paul's Church in Baltimore.  Read about her exciting new position here.

Baroque Delights for Mother's Day

Join us today at 5P.M. in Christ Church for a concert of Baroque music. Marcello's famous Oboe Concerto in D minor will be paired with J.S. Bach's Italian Concerto; the introspective chorale-quartet on "O haupt voll Blut und Wunden" by Janitsch, and a dazzling quartet for strings and basso continuo by Fasch will cap off the program. The ensemble is comprised of local talent: Geoffrey Burgess, oboe and Leon Schelhase, harpsichord with Daniel Elyar, Christof Richter and Daniela Peterson on violins and violas; Eve Miller, cello. Admission is free and donations are gratefully received.

Wednesday Noon Eucharist
