This Sunday at Christ Church--February 7
ONE SERVICE, 10 AMfollowed by the Annual Meeting of the Parish at 11:15 AMThe agenda and annual report for the meeting is found here. |
Greetings!
We gather as one community this Sunday at 10 AM for joyous worship, bringing together both our 9 and 11 AM congregations. No matter the snow on the ground, we will gather to give praise to God and pray for the future of Christ Church. Immediately following the 10 AM service, we gather for our Annual Meeting, where we conduct the necessary business of the parish and, most importantly, elect three new members to the Vestry (our Board of Trustees). As well, we hear reports on the financial condition of the parish, and hear necessary reports from Wardens and myself. The Annual Report and Financial Documents can be read and/or downloaded here. Immediately after the Annual Meeting, we will have some festive snack food in the Neighborhood House, and all who are interested will be led on tours of the current construction. This Saturday is a parish workday (details below). They are always important as they save Christ Church a lot of money, and they are pretty good for fellowship, too. But this one is particularly important, because of the snow forecast. Parishioners Mitzi Ng and Jeff Clark have a 3 PM wedding, and any able-bodied parishioners who can get their selves and shovels to Christ Church in the morning and early afternoon and help make the paths clear for their guests will be greatly appreciated.
Christ Church is a
powerful instrument of God's grace and love, made possible by your faithful
stewardship and generosity.

Parish Workday this Saturday--cleaners and shovelers needed
Parish workdays are hard work, and they are fun. Further, they are equivalent to putting $2000 in the offering plate in saved cleaning and labor costs. This Saturday, with lots of snow forecast, we will need a shoveling crew as well, not only to help prepare for Sunday, but for the 3 PM wedding as well (we don't want the bride stepping through snow drifts, do we?). Let Greg Staton know that you're coming, and when you're coming in the 8 AM to 2 PM schedule.

Make a financial commitment to Christ Church
For
many people at Christ Church, they are facing financial uncertainty and
are unable to make a year long-pledge to Christ Church. Still, all
members will be helpful and good stewards of Christ Church if they make
known to the Vestry their expected financial support to Christ Church. To make your financial commitment for 2010, or to set up gifts from a bank account, debit card or credit card, please visit our Stewardship webpage.Parishioners
have asked, "Can I make a commitment for a shorter period of time?"
The answer is "yes." It may make sense to make a financial pledge
between now and May 31st, or June 30th. As
well, several parishioners have asked to have their financial gifts
made through one-time or recurring gifts from their bank account, debit
card or credit card. Christ Church has a new, secure system for its
members to set up gifts that are made on a specific schedule, with a
specific ending date.
