Activity of the Month
This section could really be changed to "Activity of the Year"! The OATC staff has worked hard over the summer to create and gather curriculum activities to address the CARGA Performance Level Descriptors (PLD's). Remember, this is a work in progress and new activities are added on a regular basis. In fact, if you have any great PLD activities you'd like to share with the rest of Oklahoma, sign up to be a member of Boardmaker Share, join our group, "Oklahoma Assistive Technology Center", and upload your activities. Not sure how to do all of this? Check out these helpful tips and tricks.

I am always on the lookout for interesting educational games for the iPads & iPods we have in our loan library. A friend turned me on to Word Wizard and I promptly downloaded (only $2.99) it for my own kids! It is a very simple game where you drag letter tiles to build words or just play with letters and sounds. You can view words as lower case or upper case and hear them as their letter name or letter sound. There is even a spelling quiz featuring pre-programmed word lists like Dolch, 1000 common words, body parts OR you can create your own custom word list. My 5 year old gives it two thumbs up! Watch a demo video here: Word Wizard Demo Video Download the app from the iTunes store here: Word Wizard on iTunes

Create your own onset and rime interlocking tiles for early literacy word construction practice. Add some Boardmaker pictures or Google Images to your materials and a simple voice output device (e.g., Seven Level Communicator or TechSpeak) and you have an adapted literacy activity that will fit the needs of many of your students. Create your customized word tiles here: Onset and Rime Tiles
Wishing you all the best!
