The Future ChannelMany of our students with special needs can 'get it' if we just 'give it' to them in a different and engaging way.  If you have a student who needs to 'get it' in a video format, you might just fall in love with The Futures Channel.  This website provides science and math concepts and content videos from a variety of topics including: Animals, Earth Science, Sports, and more.  Some of the videos are free and you can buy a subscription to gain access to all of their videos as well as other teaching resources.
Freeware
Need a masking tool for reading materials on the computer?  How about a large and colorful mouse cursor for better visual tracking?  Maybe a colored transparency that follows your mouse cursor on the computer screen (e.g., colored reading helper)?  You can get these and MORE at this easy to navigate freeware site.  Grab a cup of coffee, sit back, and be prepared to spend a little time exploring this site.  You might just find the perfect freeware that you didn't even know you needed! PARTICIPANTS NEEDED

Young Children with Cerebral Palsy,

Arthrogryposis or Spinal Muscular Atrophy

Did you know that children with severe cerebral palsy, arthrogryposis, spinal muscular atrophy and other disorders whose limited mobility prevents them from exploring their environment may be at risk for delays in how they learn, communicate, socialize and cope? We are doing a research study with young children with such conditions. The study will explore the effects of battery-operated wheelchairs on the development and functional skills of children when compared to similar children who do not receive the intervention.

Requirements: Participants must be 14- to 30-months of age, must be unable to walk, must have adequate vision and hearing, and must have the ability to learn to use a battery-operated wheelchair.

Participation is voluntary.

For more information, please call Amanda Porter at 405-271-2131 ext 46813 or

E-mail at Amanda-Porter@ouhsc.edu for further details!
