Greetings!
I hope everyone had a great summer! A couple of weeks ago I was invited to give a talk to a healing group. It was so much fun with so many great questions and everyone smelling all the different the oils. I think we all were a little on oil overload! It reminded me how much I love these oils and the healing they bring. So I promise to be more consistent with this newsletter now that summer is almost over.
So, keep your questions coming as well as your essential oil stories.

Q: What oils would you suggest to have in an "oil first aid" kit.
A: The oils I think everyone should have include Peppermint, Lavender, Thieves, Melalueca, Purification, Lemon, Oregano, and one for pain such as Wintergreen, PanAway, Idaho Balsam Fir, Relieve It or Copaiba, plus others for your specialized needs. I will be talking about each of these oils in the next several newsletters.

Featured Oil - Peppermint
|
|
| Peppermint is an oil that is almost always with me, usually floating around in my purse. Which actually keeps my purse smelling great! Historical uses of peppermint include increasing oxygen
uptake, stimulating the nerves through the synapes, decreasing headaches, improving digestion, decreasing fever,
nausea, and vomiting, calming nerves, as well as easing motion and morning sickness. Just to name a few!
It is one of the oils I routinely put in my drinking water, especially in restaurants. It helps clear up the water, is really refreshing, tastes great, helps with your breath, aids in digestion, as well as a great pick-me-up. It also works well in hot water as a peppermint tea. When eating out, I often put a drop on my tongue to freshen my breath after the meal. And if you put a drop on the tip of your tongue, then put you tongue up on the roof of your mouth, breathing deeply through your nose, it will open up your sinuses!
I have successfully use peppermint oil to help relieve clients headaches as well as my own. I put the oil where the headache seems to be coming from, i.e. the temples, back of the scalp, down the back of the neck, etc. My only caution is to keep the oil away from the eyes.
Peppermint also works great for bringing down fevers, easing nausea, motion and morning sickness. For nausea, I find rubbing the oil around my belly button works best. It also worked well for one of my pregnant clients. Stopped her morning sickness cold!
So grab your peppermint oil and start experimenting. And remember to share with me your success stories. It's how I keep learning!
