Tips to Think Lean, Work Lean,
And Continuously Improve

Are You Bogged Down By Pesky Obstacles?

Is there something between you and your dreams?

We all face obstacles from time to  time.  It might be lack of money, time, skills, or support. They can often seem insurmountable.

One good way to cope with obstacles is to resist the temptation to simply give in to them.

You can do this by:

Asking yourself what the lesson is in the obstacle - high achievers look at every obstacle as a learning experience.

Look for the silver lining - Every obstacle comes with one, I promise.  If you can't see it immediately, trust that the day will come when you do.

Choose your next action - while some may blame and complain when obstacles cross their path, the super successful have a bias for action.  They find a way over, under, around or through.  They just keep moving forward, even when circumstances push them backwards

You can achieve your goals!  You can learn to become one of the unstoppable.  By employing these and other habits of high achievers, you will find yourself in their ranks, and sooner than you dare to think!

Greetings!

Would you like to get more work done each day, earn more money and go home earlier?  Wouldn't it be wonderful if you could also be happier and healthier?  It may sound impossible, but you can learn to use the Toyota Production System, a set of Lean business principles employed by many successful companies to eliminate wasted resources in your workplace, and to improve your personal life as well!  And you can adopt Total Quality Management tools to continuously monitor and improve your actions!  Let Maryanne Ross,APICS Instructor, use her 25 years of business experience to show you how!
Think Lean!

Focus your mind this week on only the thoughts that bring you closer to your goals, let the other thoughts slip away. Your powerful thoughts will drive the powerful actions that take you closer to success. Monitor your progress and adjust when necessary.  A quick and easy way is to stop and ask yourself if the thought you are thinking aligns with and supports your goals, or if it demotivates you and moves you away from your target.  If it isn't helping you, let it go!

Work Lean!

Working Lean means that you view every activity from the lens of the customer. If an activity doesn't add value from the customer's perspective, then you must question why you do it, and how you can eliminate it.  Often we discover that we do things a certain way simply because "we've always done it that way", but without any thought as to whether or not the customer actually values the time, money or energy expended. Eliminating waste can save you  that money, time and energy, and allow you the resources for things the customer actually values. It can also get you home earlier each evening!

Continuously Improve!

Kaizen is a Japanese word for improvement and is a philosophy that focuses on continuous improvement throughout all aspects of life. When applied to the workplace, Kaizen activities continually improve all functions of a business.  It was first implemented in Japan after World War II, and is now used worldwide, by scores of successful organizations.  It can teach you and your employees how to spot waste so that it can be eliminated.  While Kaizen usually delivers small improvements, it can assist you in creating a culture that focuses its attention to small, steady and aligned improvements.  These improvements can pay off big for your business!
