Greetings!

It may not seem like old man winter is ever going to release his icy grip on us. Take heart, spring will make her way soon and bring a variety of gorgeous flowers to lift your spirits!  But first we'll have to get through those windy days of March. Why not use these blustery days to practice letting go of more than just your hat?  We all tend to have some pent up angers, grudges, fears and habituated thinking patterns and this is an excellent time to just LET GO!!!

Let Go of Limiting Thoughts and beliefs!

Most of us struggle with negative thoughts and beliefs, but with practice we can learn to overcome these habituated thoughts so that we can achieve the happiness and success that is our birthright.  Think of the negative thoughts as heavy baggage or useless items we save for no good reason. Why not do some early spring cleaning and make yourself a promise to just let go?  Some of this stinking thinking is directed at others and some of it is directed at ourselves.  All of it is weighing us down, and since spring is just around the corner, it's a great time to let it go!

Let Go of those angers you've held onto for months, even years.  Let go of revengeful thinking.  When we carry around old angers and resentments we give the person who injured us or made us angry free reign over our thoughts and emotions.  They may have forgotten about the incident, they may not even care that you are still upset. Maybe this person did ruin your yesterday, but do you want to give them the power to ruin your today and tomorrow?  If your answer is no, then you owe it to yourself to just let go of those old emotions.

Let Go of jealousy and resentment. Quit comparing yourself to anyone else.  Quit trying to fit in or conform.  You weren't born to blend in, you were born to stand out!  In  Purpleocity, a presentation I've co-created with my instructor friends,, we encourage participants to discover their own competitive advantage and leverage it.  And yes, we all have a special talent or ability. The trouble is we spend too much time "suffering by comparison," which is the useless task of comparing ourselves to anyone else! When we let go of these time-wasting thoughts, we free ourselves up to discover our own star power.

Let Go of worry! You may not know this, so I'll let you in on a dirty little secret.  Worry has always been an Achilles heel for me. But one thing I'm beginning to understand is that worrying doesn't do anything to alleviate the potential problem and it robs me of the ability to create the solution to my source of concern.  I now view worry as a reactive stance, and since I encourage my supply chain management classes to be proactive with their operational issues, I've decided to practice what I preach in my personal life.  My favorite proactive tool is prayer, and my favorite all time saying has become: Let go and Let God.

Have a great month and I'll be back in April with another little lesson for life's journey!

Continued Success!

5 & 1/2 Ways
to Enjoy March!

1) Go Fly a kite! - Get outside and enjoy the windy days by enjoying the old-fashioned fun of flying a kite.

2) Bring the outdoors in! - The grocery and home stores have an array of flower bulbs and plants in full bloom.  Bring one home and give it center stage.

3) Take a hike! - While the weather is still breezy and cool, it's a good time of year to get out and hike in one of your state's parks.  The crowd will be thin and you'll get some great exercise.

4) Celebrate St Patrick's Day - You don't have to be Irish to enjoy this holiday.  Watch the parade, cook and enjoy corned beef and cabbage, or buy a loaf of Irish Soda Bread.

5) Enjoy a virtual trip! - While you're enjoying that soda bread, sit back and peruse the catalogs and plan your summer garden or make vacation plans.

And the 1/2, you ask?  Practice Gratitude! Keep a journal and list 5 things that you have to be grateful for every day.  Try it for 30 days, you'll be amazed at how much better you feel!
