Greetings!

Happy New Year!   All of us at The Divorce Collaborative LLC hope you and your family enjoyed the holiday season, and wish you much happiness and success in 2012.  Thanks for taking a few minutes to read our newsletter.  Please feel free to share it with friends, relatives, and co-workers.

You might be asking yourself "why am I getting this newsletter?", or maybe you are concerned about why your spouse is getting our newsletter?!  No need to panic.

Our newsletter is not only for clients, but is sent to other professionals that we have met, referral sources, friends, etc.  Frequently, we have helpful family-related info on parenting and other topics.  Of course, if you prefer not to receive the newsletter, just send us $750.00 and we will remove you.  Just kidding - you can easily unsubscribe at the bottom with a single click - although we hope you don't.

Sincerely,

TDC's Bedford office, 60 Great Rd

During 2011, TDC welcomed Attorneys Katherine Thomas and Colleen Cunnally to the firm. To read more about them, please click here to read About the TDC Team.

Thanks to our continued growth, we opened up a second location in Bedford, MA after a lengthy search for the right office location.  In late 2011, we also moved to a larger suite within our building in downtown Franklin.

Another milestone in 2011 was the launch of the firm's new website/blog at  www.divorcecollaborative.com.  The improved website features design and navigation improvements, the addition of podcasts and video, along with a host of other enhancements.

So, what does 2012 have in store? Plans include rolling out additional practice areas and web-based content including Assisted Reproductive Technology, which involves not only cutting-edge science, but interesting legal issues.  We will add more information about divorce for military families and more details about international child custody and interstate child support issues. Finally, we plan to conduct a number of free seminars in 2012.  More info will be available on our website.
Alimony Reform Finally Passes
Massachusetts Alimony Reform Act Goes Into Effect on March 1, 2012
ALIMONY
The big news in Massachusetts family law over the past few months is clearly the new alimony law that has already had a  significant impact on divorce cases, even though the new system does not officially begin until March 1, 2012.   The new law attempts to make the application of alimony more standardized and predictable, and addresses the major problem of the court being unable to set durational limits on spousal support.  To learn more about the sweeping changes to the Massachusetts alimony laws, please visit our website/blog. Here is a link to a brief presentation about the major highlights of the new law.  Bring your own popcorn!
