To any artist, worthy of the name, all in nature is beautiful, because his eyes, fearlessly accepting all exterior truth, read there, as in an open book, all the inner truth.

Sculpture Spotlight: Master Signature Member Lee Hutt
|
 | | "Gregory Gillespie" by Lee Hutt |
"I work in traditional materials, clay and plaster. It's just hard work and magic.
Each person has a story. I see a face or a figure and read that story. Can I capture that essential in clay? Do you read it and think of your own story? Will these sculptures communicate to the future something about who we are today? Who knows? I am compelled to do it.
In this, I believe myself connected to a tradition with roots in the Renaissance and Antiquity.
As artists we record history. It is a privilege, filled with self criticism, uncertainty and occasional ecstasy."

Painting Spotlight: Signature Member Nancy Carroll
|
 | | "Spring on Canyon Road" by Nancy Carroll |
"No artist could live in California and not become enchanted with painting in natural light and from life" says Nancy. Painting in a direct post-impressionist Russian style of realism, where strong expression of form is critical, she has developed a definitive style of painting from life that is evident in all of her works.

Help Stop Art Fraud
| | Both Joy Beckner and Rosetta have had work illegally copied and for sale on eBay. Joy has had success convincing two known distributors of two pirated pieces, that were reproduced in resin, to remove them from eBay. Two others, that were reproduced in pot metal, are still on websites originating in England. Rosetta's pieces have purported to be by someone called "Milo." If you run across suspicious items drop us a line and we'll forward it to Joy or Rosetta. Other web sites have advertised copies of paintings of living artists we all know--strongly worded emails have resulted in those artists being dropped from the inventory. Unfortunately, it is not a problem that will be solved any time soon. |
