"Getting into painting, body and soul, is for me, a mesmerizing and even an addicting experience," says Conrad. "I was hooked after the first class I took years ago and have been compelled ever since to continually elevate the level of my work. Creating a pleasing painting in every sense of the word is an intriguing challenge. The possibilities for color relationships, design patterns, mood, texture and brushstrokes present an unending and ever-changing combination of possibilities."

Excerpted from "A Few Moments with Darlis Lamb"
From BE Magazine (Belen Echandia) Sunday, 07 February 2010 by Laura Oles

Darlis Lamb is an award-winning artist who has been profiled by numerous magazines, can count best-selling author Amy Tan among her long list of clients and has inspired countless other artists who have spent time in her company. Making her life in Denver, Colorado, she is a woman who represents what is possible when one chooses to make a living doing what she loves.
To describe Darlis as a busy person doesn't scratch the surface. She juggles the various creative and practical aspects of managing her gallery offerings and finds each day is different from the previous one.

"My days vary quite a bit," she says. "If I am creating, that is the focus of my day. However, in addition to being an artist, I am also a business woman. A lot of time is spent on that end, touching base with my galleries, record keeping, bookkeeping and such. Then there is keeping touch with foundries who cast my bronzes, as well as the technicians who work on them and my very excellent patineur. It is a lengthy process. The best part is the creating, then the essential details leading up to the finished work must be confronted, including last but not least, professional photography of the pieces."

When asked about new materials or ideas catching her interest, she replies, "My newest oeuvre are bronze still lifes. I was a painter before becoming a sculptor, so the concept worked for me. I call the series "French Lessons", with titles in French and English. This lends continuity to the series and leaves what the viewer sees beyond the title to be an individual thing."
