MainTopicAre overdraft fees eating your bank account?
Debit cards are becoming more common than credit cards.  Debit card users must remember that overdraft fees on a bank account can accumulate quickly and be more costly than ordinary credit card fees.   Credit card companies charge one overdraft fee per month.  Banks can charge multiple overdraft fees each day!

The Alexandrite Group can help you avoid these excessive overdraft fees. Contact Diane Nissen Friedman, today, for an appointment. She will teach you how to manage your bank account so that you void these senseless charges.

For a more in depth understanding of this issue, watch this clear and informative video prepared by the NY Times and PBS' Frontline.
SavingTipWhat are mutual funds?
A mutual fund is a professionally managed investment product that sells shares to investors.

Mutual funds hold a variety of investments including stocks, bonds, money market securities, and sometimes, derivatives.  The actual mix of the type of investments depends upon the objective of the fund, the manager of the fund, the manager's investment style and the amount of capital the fund has available for investment.

All mutual funds charge management fees which can vary depending upon the type of fund.

Is your cellular phone plan right for you?

This question recently came up in my household.  My husband and I have very different cell phone habits.  We wanted to combine our services, and possibly upgrade to Internet emailing.

We visited a company owned, high volume business wireless store to inquire about rate plans.  The rep insisted we could not save a dime by combining, since our habits were quite different.  I went home and checked the website, but found it rather unclear and confusing.

A week later, my phone needed to be replaced and I visited a quieter independent store. I was told that we could combine our services and save almost $500 annually.

Do you have any similar stories you would like to share?
Hope you have a great month!  If you have any suggestions or comments, we would like to hear from you.

Sincerely,
