Six years! I can hardly believe how fast time has flown...and at the same time, how long ago it all seems! (Remember novelty yarn?!?) After six years of meeting customers, picking up dropped stitches, writing patterns, designing kits, fondling beautiful yarns, investing in our community, sharing laughs and making friends, the time has come to pass the torch, or more fittingly, the knitting needles. I'm sending this email today to let you know that we're ready to sell the shop.
I've reached a point in my career where I'm ready for change, both professionally and personally. You know how you never forget your first love? As far back as I can remember, I've wanted to be a writer. And while much of my time here has included writing--the blog, the website and years worth of newsletters--I'm ready for more.
I'm ready, too, to start thinking about growing our family. (Well, one that includes another person besides Curt, me and our kitty Sal!) A new baby, whenever that time comes, deserves your best work--and so does a small business.
These decisions have been painful to make--the hardest part of it all has been deciding to sell the shop. Before we list the business with our broker in a few weeks, I'd like to offer the opportunity to someone I think may be interested. Hopefully, that's you.
We expect this to reach several special customers who are seriously interested in pursuing this satisfying, creative lifestyle. Perhaps now is the right time for you. Whether you're on the brink of retirement and considering full-time life in Northern Michigan, or you're just starting your career as a college graduate with a degree in business or fine art. Maybe you're newly retired but are ready to flex your entrepreneurial muscles. Or maybe you and your sister have always dreamed of owning a charming little yarn shop together. Let's talk. If running your own yarn shop is something you've always wanted, I encourage you to contact me personally at (231) 228-2800. We can set up an appointment to discuss a world of possibility.
Until we find the right person, nothing at Wool & Honey will change. We're preparing for our busy summer season in the same ways we always do. We've got beautiful yarns trickling in every week (with a BIG surprise showing up next week!), new trunk shows on the schedule every month and gifts lined up that we know knitters and non-knitters alike will love. In other words, we'll continue to do what we do best--bring you the most unique fiber finds in Northern Michigan.
Thank you for everything, friends. I'm looking forward to the next bend in the road, wherever that may lead.
