Hello, friends!

Weeks Eleven & Twelve.  Okay, okay--I know you noticed the lapse in last week's newsletter.  But better late than never, right?   This week's newsletter includes two projects, plus a shopping guide for a few last-minute gifts.  If you (or someone on your list) is in the Great Lakes region, you still have a few days left--by Wednesday, December 21st, to be exact--to guarantee your package will arrive on or before Christmas Eve.  And as an added bonus, take 10% OFF your order between now and the 21st by entering coupon code 11HOUR.  Don't forget that all orders over $75 ship free--always.

So.  It's getting down to the Eleventh Hour--and we thought you might need a few gift ideas, either for knitting or giving to knitters.  Here are five of our favorites--but don't forget to check out the Gifts Page on our website for a few more.

bee soap

1.  Our signature bee soaps.  Lightly scented, these decadent soaps are made with shea butter and royal jelly--perfect for guests or the Queen Bee.

holiday lip balm

2.  Holiday lip balms Made exclusively for Wool & Honey by Rachel O'Brien in Spokane, these velvety balms keep your lips soft and supple all winter long with avocado oil and cocoa butter.  Choose from Gingerbread Man, Eggnog, Almond, Cranberry Honey or Pumpkin Cheesecake.  Great stocking stuffer!

santa alpaca christmas card

3.  A beautiful Christmas card for fiber loversProbably one of the most adorable holiday cards I've seen.  This card is a print of an oil pastel done by local artist and llama farmer Renee Hobbins, featuring Santa nuzzling a newborn cria (a baby llama).  The inside of the card is blank so you can leave your own personal holiday message.

4.  Sparkly yarn.  How about a snazzy little accessory for New Year's?  Think scarves, shawls and tanks.

5.  Christmas ornaments.  Especially this new pattern by designer Amy Gaines--this pattern includes all seven ornaments shown.  (Even the figgy pudding!)  We've also fully stocked Cascade 220 in holiday colors--a skein of each would easily make the entire set.   No time to knit them yourself?  Give the pattern and a few skeins of yarn to your favorite knitter as a gift.

At Wool & Honey, we believe that the best way to celebrate the holidays is with a handcrafted gift.

Something special--a little slip of a silk scarf, a pair of fuzzy, wooly mitts, a handknit ornament--that with a little time, a little money and a little foresight could become the most treasured gift you give all year.

Every Friday, you'll receive an email revealing a special pattern we've written exclusively for the shop--one that can easily be tackled within the course of a week.  (With a little effort, of course--these projects don't knit themselves!)

These patterns are super simple, even for beginner knitters.  We make it that way because we realize that in addition to your knitting, there's a good chance you've got a few other things to tend to between now and the holidays.  (Ahem!)

Knitting should be fun, not work.  And certainly not stressful.  Most of these projects are One-Skein Wonders--a pretty fantastic way to see light at the end of the knitting tunnel, even when you're elbow-deep in cookie dough.

With 12 full weeks ahead of us, if you pace yourself and try your best to keep up, you'll have a nice collection of gifts come December 25th.

Good luck, friends!

This year, just like last year, there are several ways to knit for everyone on your list.  The Twelve Knits are being sold as kits--kits complete with yarn, pattern and a Wool & Honey project bag, with the option of adding needles if you need them.  You can purchase one for delivery right to your doorstep or you can reserve one for pick-up at the shop.
And for those of you who've got a mountain of stash to knit through, we're offering a pattern-only option as well.  Within 24 hours of your purchase, your pattern will be e-mailed to you in an easy-to-read PDF format that you can save and print as many times as you'd like.

This year, we're thrilled to be selling The Twelve Knits on our shiny new website,

 www.woolandhoney.com.

Take a peek around while you're shopping--there's a pretty good chance you'll find something you like!

Weeks Eleven & Twelve

Cabin Cozy

Cabin Cozy

Tea cozies are the quintessential accessory for long winters in the North.  With a pot of tea keeping warm under its own mini sweater, you can share a cuppa (or two!) with a friend while you stitch away the evening.  Knit in six shades of worsted weight wool, you can easily experiment with colors and textures--ours is loosely based on the whimsical palette of the famous Polish pottery.

Rugged Mitts

Manly Mitts

Often, while we're busy knitting up projects for everyone on our list, the manly gifts fall to the wayside.  (Well, men just aren't as fun to knit for!  Admit it--you were thinking the same thing!)  This project is great for the handy man in your life--the mitts keep his fingers free to fiddle with the car radio, swing a hammer or puff on a holiday cigar while still keeping his hands somewhat warm.  With just a few hours, you can easily make room for this week's simple gift.  This would be a great project for a beginner--all you need to know how to do is knit.

***There are a limited number of kits available every week. Purchasing your kit early insures you receive the kit in a timely manner. If kits or materials become unavailable or sold out, you will be contacted immediately via email with the options of:

1.) a replacement color

2.) a slight delay in shipment due to stock reorder

or

3.) a full refund

***We ship all kits--including multiples--for a flat rate of $6.95 within the domestic U.S. via USPS Priority Mail--we know you want your kits as quickly as possible!

***Just like all Wool & Honey patterns, The Twelve Knits of Christmas are for personal use only. Knit wine bottle hats for your sister-in-law, your dog walker--heck, knit one for each of your coworkers. Please remember, though, that these patterns belong to the shop and are protected by copyright--they are not to be knit for profit.

But you knew that, right?

Maybe you're reading this email and thinking, "How could I possibly find time to finish all of my holiday knitting?"  (Me, too.)  What about giving kits as gifts to your knitting friends?  We've still got a few of our most popular kits left in stock: The Three Felted Bowls Kit, The Aran Ornaments Kit and The Wine Bottle Hats Kit.  All three of these kits make great gifts--perfect for last-minute party favors.  Of course, there's always a gift certificate in any amount--call us at (231) 228-2800 and we'll be happy to send it in the mail or keep it here for your friend.  In dire circumstance (!), we've scanned and emailed certificates to desperate spouses on December 24th!

I'm heading to my sixth Christmas party of the season tonight, with two more planned for Sunday.  Whew!  While these social gatherings may be putting a cramp in my knitting time, I've been doing my best to savor these moments with the people I love--that's what the holidays are all about.

Here's hoping that your next few weeks are filled with the best parts of the season--friends, family, good food, quiet moments, laughter, lots of knitting--and a big glass of cheer.  Thinking of all of you far and wide this Christmas season.

Love,
Melissa
