Hello, friends!

Week Nine.   Confession time.  Due to a snowstorm on the East coast, one less shipping day due to the holiday and a bit of poor planning on my part (ahem), the supplies for this week's kit have been delayed for a few days.  So to make up for it, we're bringing back not one, but two of our favorite kits at Wool & Honey--and we'd like you to take an extra 20% off through Cyber Monday!  Read on below....

Thanksgiving Weekend Hours

Friday, November 25th--9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Saturday, November 26th--9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Sunday, November 27th--closed

Monday, November 28th--11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

We're smack in the middle of our Thanksgiving Weekend Trunk Show!  At Wool & Honey, we've been spending the past few years rebuilding & retooling our inventory to reflect the way we feel about the small, independent artisan.  (We love them!)  This weekend, we're taking the opportunity to showcase a few special extras--yarns, fibers and patterns that are created by unique local artisans in the greater Northern Michigan area.

Holidays are all about thoughtful, unique gifts.  And what's more unique than a gift made in Northern Michigan--or made from yarn spun/dyed/handpainted in Northern Michigan?  All day today, November 25th & tomorrow, Saturday November 26th, we're showcasing some of our favorite local talent with an expansive store-wide trunk show.  Tomorrow evening from 6-9, there'll be an artists reception, where you'll get to meet some of the women behind the fiber.  Wine, snacks, chocolate and even local music will be served-- singer/songwriter Kat Eldred will be here with her guitar to make the evening even more festive.  We hope you'll join us in giving thanks for our local artists!

At Wool & Honey, we believe that the best way to celebrate the holidays is with a handcrafted gift.

Something special--a little slip of a silk scarf, a pair of fuzzy, wooly mitts, a handknit ornament--that with a little time, a little money and a little foresight could become the most treasured gift you give all year.

Every Friday, you'll receive an email revealing a special pattern we've written exclusively for the shop--one that can easily be tackled within the course of a week.  (With a little effort, of course--these projects don't knit themselves!)

These patterns are super simple, even for beginner knitters.  We make it that way because we realize that in addition to your knitting, there's a good chance you've got a few other things to tend to between now and the holidays.  (Ahem!)

Knitting should be fun, not work.  And certainly not stressful.  Most of these projects are One-Skein Wonders--a pretty fantastic way to see light at the end of the knitting tunnel, even when you're elbow-deep in cookie dough.

With 12 full weeks ahead of us, if you pace yourself and try your best to keep up, you'll have a nice collection of gifts come December 25th.

Good luck, friends!

This year, just like last year, there are several ways to knit for everyone on your list.  The Twelve Knits are being sold as kits--kits complete with yarn, pattern and a Wool & Honey project bag, with the option of adding needles if you need them.  You can purchase one for delivery right to your doorstep or you can reserve one for pick-up at the shop.
And for those of you who've got a mountain of stash to knit through, we're offering a pattern-only option as well.  Within 24 hours of your purchase, your pattern will be e-mailed to you in an easy-to-read PDF format that you can save and print as many times as you'd like.

This year, we're thrilled to be selling The Twelve Knits on our shiny new website,

 www.woolandhoney.com.

Take a peek around while you're shopping--there's a pretty good chance you'll find something you like!

Three Felted Bowls

Three Felted Bowls

Keeping clutter to a minimum (or at least storing clutter in an attractive way!) can be a full time job. These little felted vessels help enormously.

They're about as simple as they come--a knitted tube, essentially (with few decreases thrown in for shaping), a bit of hand felting and you're done.

Knit one for the entryway table to house keys and spare change, one for your knitting needles and one for a vase of flowers!  (Inside the tall white version is a pint-sized Mason jar to stablize the bowl.)  And here's another little something to think about:

The Twelve Knits make great gifts for knitters--

just give the kit itself and you've crossed one more person off your list.

Wine Bottle Hats (Close Up)

Wine Bottle Hats

When I'm down to the 11th hour without a personalized gift to give, I turn to a fabulous bottle of wine and these little hats.  They're unbelievably quick to knit, perfect for stash-busting and best of all, they're hilarious.  (Just watch the faces of your recipients--these are guaranteed to generate a few laughs!)  Stop by your favorite local wine shop (mine's Cedar City Market, of course!), pick up a bottle of your favorite local wine (might I suggest 45 North's Pinot Grigio or L. Mawby's Cremant Classic?) and you're set for your next holiday party.

Each kit will make six wine bottle hats.

1.) a replacement color

2.) a slight delay in shipment due to stock reorder

or

3.) a full refund

***Just like all Wool & Honey patterns, The Twelve Knits of Christmas are for personal use only. Knit wine bottle hats for your sister-in-law, your dog walker--heck, knit one for each of your coworkers. Please remember, though, that these patterns belong to the shop and are protected by copyright--they are not to be knit for profit.

But you knew that, right?

Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and you're spending this holiday with the things that make you the happiest: friends, family and knitting, of course!

While you're out and about this weekend, please don't forget about your local small businesses.  Coffeehouses, auto repair clinics, locally-owned banks--they depend on you and your dollars during the entire year.  Please help to keep them doing the community-enriching work they do.
They appreciate you more than you know.
