The Land of Wool & Honey

Hiya, fiber fans!

I know what you're thinking. Waaaay too early to start planning for the holidays.  (I mean, the thermometer is just now  inching back down from 90-plus degrees.  In Northern Michigan.  Yikes.)

But.  Let's be honest with ourselves--Christmas is now exactly five months away.  Not too far, but far enough that if you really plan it right, you could create several meaningful knitted gifts.  Or one big one.  (Time for that man-sized aran sweater, perhaps?)

And what better time to work on small, lightweight projects than summer?  A pair of socks to pull out at a picnic, a cowl to keep you company at an outdoor concert or even a few balls of cotton yarn in your beach bag for lakeside knitting.

Not unlike our famous 12 Knits of Christmas, this short-but-sweet "Christmas in July" series features a few clever projects to perk up your mid-summer knitting--and to get you in the spirit for the months of stitching ahead.  You'll find projects for several people on your list, inspiring new yarn in the spotlight and for those of you who are lucky enough to be in the Leelanau Peninsula this week, we'll have a few workshops to help you get started, too.  Look for an email every day this week--and a special surprise on Saturday!

Hoping you're well and enjoying the best of what summer has to offer.  I've been swimming almost daily at Good Harbor, stocking my storecupboard full of fresh, sweet jam and trying to catch every sparkling sunset I can.  (With knitting tucked into my beach bag, apron and backpack, of course!)

Frukttradgard:
A Luxurious Hat Kit

(without breaking the bank!)

Frukktragard Hat
This hat pattern is one of my favorite small gifts for lightweight summer knitting.  It's a beautiful yet simple lacy beret, consisting of a meandering nature motif and a bit of slouch.  The yarn?  Road to China Light by The Fibre Company, an exquisite blend of baby alpaca, silk, camel and cashmere.  Yowza.  And at $16 for 159 yards, a single skein turns a luxury project into a very affordable one.
Frukttragard Close-Up

Leafy green not your color?  We've got the hard-to-resist Road to China Light in seven other jewel-inspired hues.
Choose from the colors below in your Paypal "Notes to Seller" upon checkout.  If you leave the message blank, we'll choose one for you!  (They're all pretty wonderful!)
RTCL 1
L to R: Dark Amethyst, Carnelian, Riverstone, Peridot (sample).

RTCL 2
L to R: Malachite, Aquamarine, Hematite, Grey Pearl.

This pattern also requires US 3 & 6 16" circular needles and US 6 double-pointed needles, which are not included in the kit.  If you need needles to complete your project, please call us at (231) 228-2800 or email us at spunhoneyfibers AT gmail DOT com--we'll be happy to add them to your package.
