Hiya, knitters!
Thank you so much for your participation in the 30/30 series so far. The projects have been a huge hit and we've shipped out several packages (and emailed patterns) every day this week. I'm looking forward to seeing what you think about Week Number Two's projects--I happen to think this week is even better!

Here's a bit more information for those of you who are new to our 30 Projects for $30 (And Under!):
Over the next six weeks, we'll be bringing you ideas for small-scale projects that are affordable, easy-to-knit and that would make lovely gifts for almost anyone on your list. As the days get longer and the weather gets warmer, we tend to spend a little less time with our knitting and more time outside. The 30 Projects are perfect for spring knitting--lightweight, small and easy to knit. Even if you only have time for a few rows every night, you don't have to abandon your knitting until fall! We're certain that with 30 projects, there will be something for everyone. We're so excited to share these projects with you!

6. Here Comes The Sun

 Inspired by both the upcoming spring and a friend's J. Crew infinity wrap, the idea for this simple scarf was born. It's knit with a paper-thin laceweight Merino wool and if you didn't know it, you'd swear it was cashmere! This version has fewer bells and whistles than the J. Crew version (no bobbles on this baby!), but it's just the fusion of bright color and modern style I was searching for. Shown with one long twist around the neck and one short, this scarf can be wrapped once more around the neck to create a layered cowl. A Wool & Honey exclusive pattern. Yellow not your thing? 7. Purple Muscari* (Fingerless Mitts) | |
We've said it before and we'll say it again--fingerless mitts are one of our favorite accessories. Quick to knit and popular among all age groups, these mitts are lightweight enough for areas still experiencing a chill in the air. (Ahem, Northern Michigan!)
We've created shop patterns for mini mitts in the past--we've updated this version by knitting the "body" of the hand entirely in stockinette (which of course speeds things up a little!) They're knit with Malabrigo Sock, a soft superwash Merino wool in a beautiful range of deep, complex colors. A Wool & Honey exclusive pattern.
*Purple muscari are those miniature harbingers of spring also known as grape hyacinth--one of my very favorite spring flowers!

8. Sweetie Pie Hat

It never hurts to have one more baby hat on hand for the next wee one on its way--this one might be the cutest I've seen in awhile!  It's knit with another yarn that's brand new to Wool & Honey--the self-striping Be Sweet Bambino Taffy. A blend of buttery soft bamboo and cotton, this yarn was designed to be a kit--the pattern's right on the label! For those of you just cutting your teeth on knitting, this would be an opportunity to try out a few new techniques--a picot edge, a lace section, bobbles and the I-cord ties. This hat fits sizes 6-18 months and the yarn is machine washable--a wonderful thing for busy new moms. Sorry, this pattern is only available with the purchase of the yarn.

Wear your love of knitting on your sleeve--or rather, on your keychain! Just plain fun, this kit includes a miniature wooden mitten keychain to hang from your set of keys. This is a very popular gift among knitting circles--I've seen customers buy one for each of their friends in the group.
