Classes  April 2010
Hiya, knitters!

Costa Rica I am back from vacation and as much as I loved spending two full weeks in tropical paradise, I am so glad to be home. Spring is such an exciting time  to be in Northern Michigan--the birds, the spotting of the first crocus and of course, the sun!

The shop is a flurry of activity these days....we're gearing up for another dynamic summer. You'll see more classes, more events, tons of new yarn and some HUGE surprises to reveal in the very near future (I can hardly stand it!) For now, check out our April class schedule.  There are lots of choices, with evening and weekend classes for those of you 9-5ers. Don't wait to sign up--these classes fill quickly! Call us at (231) 228-2800 to reserve your spot.

I hope this newsletter finds you well--spring cleaning, knitting and enjoying that sun!

Best,

Melissa

April 2010 Classes  Learn Something New This Spring!

We're really excited about our offerings this month--we hope you'll find a few things that will boost your knitting confidence.

·Knitted Embellishments

Wednesday, March 31st: 5:30-7:30 p.m.

There are so many ways to make your knits unique just by adding a few clever details.   Learn how to knit and incorporate some of the fun extras in knitting, including I-cords, buttonholes, pompoms and knitted flowers.  This class is inspiring and fun-just the thing to jump start your creativity as we head into spring.

One 2-hour session, $25.00.  (Some materials are included, but please contact us to find out what else you'll need to bring.)

·Needle Felted Easter Eggs

Friday, April 2nd: 2-4 p.m.

Needle Felted Easter Eggs

Just in time for Easter, these needle felted eggs would make a darling centerpiece for your dinner table.  Needle felting is a fast and fun way to add dimension and artistry to your fiber repertoire.  This class would also be great for kids 10 and up!

One 2-hour session, $30.00.  Materials included.

·Handcrafted, Not Homemade-
It's All in the Details

Saturday, April 3rd: 2-4 p.m.

OR

Wednesday, April 7th: 5:30-7:30 p.m.

One of the most important aspects of knitting isn't the actual knitting-it's the sewing, seaming & wrestling that some cleverly call "finishing".  Knowing how to match up the proper techniques insures overall knitting success.  This session will put you at ease, leaving you to create pieces you're proud to call hand-knit.  We'll be holding this class at least once a month, year-round; these techniques are essential for knitting success!

One 2-hour session, $20.00.  (Some materials are included, but contact us to find out what else you'll need to bring.)

·Socks!

Saturdays, April 10th, 17th & 24th:

 9-11 a.m.

Ever wonder why this project is so popular with knitters?  They're fun, they're portable, they're relatively inexpensive....in our minds, they might be considered the perfect knitting project.  Once you've braved socks, there's nothing you can't knit.  (And yup, we're talking about double-pointed needles here!)  Coming in May-"Learn to Knit Socks with the Magic Loop".

Three 2-hour sessions, $45.00.  Materials not included.*

·Intro to Lace

Thursday, April 15th: 12- 2 p.m.

Lace is quickly becoming one of my favorite types of knitting and it's easy to see why.  Lace can be knit with extremely fine yarn, chunky yarn and everything in between.  This class will teach you how to read a pattern-both written instruction, as well as charts.  The project will be a lacy scarf.

One 2-hour session, $25.00.  Materials not included.*

·Learn to Knit, Level I
Friday, April 16th: 12-2 p.m.

Have you always wanted to learn how to knit for yourself or your friends?  Come see how relaxing (and exciting at the same time!) this popular craft can be.  No previous knowledge is required--just pull up a chair and we'll get you started.

One 2-hour session, $25.00.  Materials included.

·My First Sweater

 (The Mini Version)

Wednesdays, April 21st & 28th:

 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Whether you have just learned to knit or you're ready to move on to a big project, your first sweater should be a project you'll never forget.  Does a first sweater make you think of mismatched arms and a droopy frame?  Debunk that myth by taking this class-sweater knitting is a lot easier than you think!  We'll be knitting a baby sweater during this class.

Two 2-hour sessions, $30.00.  Materials not included.*

·Evening Clutch

Fridays, April 23rd & 30th: 12-2 p.m.

Knit a cute carryall for an evening out-or knit this little purse for a spring wedding.  In this class, we'll learn a few stitch techniques, as well as seaming and embellishments necessary to create a unique accessory.

Two 2-hour sessions, $25.00.  Materials not included.*
