NEW YEAR, NEW YARN
RAVELRY
Happy New Year!  January 5th, 2010
Happy 2010, friends!

A new year--and a new decade.  It's sort of hard to believe.  This is a big year, too, for Inish Knits--in May, we'll be celebrating our 10 year anniversary!  Just think: we've already shared an entire decade of yarn, needles, patterns, fashion (remember novelty yarn--yikes!), coffee, lazy afternoon chats, a few tears, three owners and an overall passion for fiber together in little downtown Cedar.  Here's to ten more fabulous years!

And as I always do at the start of a new year, I'm thinking of a few ideas to implement over the next twelve months.  Not resolutions, exactly--more like a commitment to a year of positive growth and change.  I'm not going to give it all away now, but here are a few numbers I'm shooting for in 2010:

--1 shopping cart added to our website,www.inishknits.com
--12 sweaters knit
--100 skeins of handspun yarn
--500 "Friends of Inish Knits" on Ravelry (see article below for more details)

Can it be done?  We'll find out!  Thanks to all of you for making 2009 such a great year--last year's success has imbued me with the confidence to shoot for the stars in 2010.

 Best,

Melissa

 CLASSES: JANUARY 2010

Learn to Knit, Level I

Saturday, January 9th: 2-4 p.m.
OR
Monday, January 11th: 2-4 p.m.

Have you always wanted to learn how to knit for yourself or your friends?  Come see how relaxing (and exciting at the same time!) this popular craft can be.  No previous knowledge is required--just pull up a chair and we'll get you started.

One 2-hour session, $10.00.  Materials included.

Learn to Knit, Level II
 Saturday, January 16th: 2-4 p.m.
OR
Monday, January 18th: 2-4 p.m.

Okay, so you can cast on, knit, purl and bind off.  What's next?  This session will be devoted to increasing, decreasing and learning to knit in the round.  After this session, knitting a hat or a pair of mittens would be the natural next step.

One 2-hour session, $20.00.  Materials included.

Cables
 Thursday, January 14th: 12-2 p.m

Learn to knit this fun technique in one two-hour session.  Cables are (surprisingly) much simpler than they look, but add so much character to a knitted piece.  Some variation of these twisted stitches is essential to most traditional knitting motifs.

One 2-hour session, $25.00.  Materials included.

 Fingerless Mitts
 Tuesday, January 12th: 12-2 p.m.
OR
Thursday, January 28th: 12-2 p.m.

Fingerless Mitts (Sock)Handspun Yarn

Find out what makes these small accessories so popular.  We tend to think it's because they're fast, cheap and super easy, but we'll let you draw your own conclusions!  Choose from two different patterns to suit your mood (and your level of commitment).

One 2-hour session, $20.00.  Materials included.

Handcrafted, Not Homemade-
It's All in the Details

Wednesday, January 13th: 2-4 p.m.

One of the most important aspects of knitting isn't the actual knitting-it's the sewing, seaming & wrestling that some cleverly call "finishing".  Knowing how to match up the proper techniques insures overall knitting success.  This first session will put you at ease, leaving you to create pieces you're proud to call hand-knit.  We'll be holding this class at least once a month, year-round; these techniques are essential for knitting success!

One 2-hour session, $10.00.  (Contact us to find out what you'll need to bring.)

 Socks!
 Wednesdays, January 20th & 27th: 12-2 p.m.

Want to keep your toes toasty this winter?  Learn how to knit this fun small project in two 2-hour sessions.  Once you've braved socks, there's nothing you can't knit!  (And yup, we're talking about double-pointed needles here!)

Two 2-hour sessions, $35.00.  Materials included.

Sweater 101
 Fridays, January 15th, 22nd & 29th: 12-2 p.m.

Whether you have just learned to knit or you're ready to move on to your first big project, your first sweater should be a project you'll never forget.  Does a first sweater make you think of mismatched arms and a droopy frame?  Debunk that myth by taking this class!

Three 2-hour sessions, $25.00.  (Materials NOT included--contact us to find out what you'll need to purchase.)
