 Leslie

 Name: Leslie Preston

Serving Roles: Greeter, Higher Ground Server, and a Singles 35+ Committee Member.

Family:
I am blessed to have my parents, sister, and her family living close by in Edmonton and a brother in Surrey, BC.

What I Enjoy Most About Serving: I started coming to Beulah about two and a half years ago. Serving, as well as, participating in small groups and taking courses, has been a great way to meet people and assist where needed in the church.

How I Connect with God: I do the best if I talk/pray to God throughout the day as I deal with the various challenges and joys that the day brings. Currently I am using a daily devotional "Living the Message" by Eugene Peterson, as well as reading through his translation of the Bible, "The Message".

Favourite Quote:
Because I tend to be easily caught up in life's busy pace, I find this quote by Luci Shaw in her book Life Path a helpful reminder: "The voice of God is like a small bird; if you want it to alight on your shoulder you must stand very still."  It brings to mind Psalm 46:10. "Be still and know that I am God," which has also been helpful to me.

My Hometown:  While I was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, I have lived most of my life in Edmonton.

Am Passionate About: People

January Evokes: A sense of a new beginning; a chance to look ahead at what God has in store for me this coming year and allow him to wash away any regrets/sadness from the previous year.

Perfect Day: A lovely day would include reading, chatting, and laughing by the lake or in the mountains after a good hike with friends/family (and no mosquitoes).

A Life-Changing Book: The Bible

Favourite thing about Edmonton: I really enjoy Edmonton's parks, walking trails, and the many wild animals that live in the city.

Best Advice Ever Received: Difficult to pick just one...but a pastor reminded us in his devotional before a church meeting once that "It's more about what we live than what we say." I believe that to be very true.

Plans for 2010: I will be spending some time in the beginning of the year getting things done around the home and helping out with my family.
