1. Who is going to BUILD my security screen door and WHERE will it be made?Buy direct from a local manufacturer or a reputable distributor. Beware of inferior quality foreign imports or companies reselling old and used products. All of
First Impression's products are American made, custom built to every order by First Impression employees, and
locally manufactured in Arizona.
2. What is the HISTORY and REPUTATION of the company? We strongly urge consumers to research any company or contractor they are considering purchasing from. The following questions will reveal many important details about any company:
a. How long have you been in business under your current company name?
b. Have you ever operated under a different company name?
c. What is your business address and how long have you been there?
d. How many employees do you have?
e. Are you licensed, bonded, and insured?
f. What are your
Registrar of Contractors license numbers? Then look up their history
here.
g. Show me your rating with the
Better Business Bureau. Then look up their history
here.
h. Show me your rating on
Angie's List. This is a nationally recognized source for hiring reliable contractors.
i. In what capacity has your company grown over the past 10 years?
j. What awards have you won for customer satisfaction, service, quality and leadership?
3. How many product SHOWROOMS do you have, where are they located, when are they open, and what products are on display? Proceed with caution if a company is not forthright or proud of providing you locations you can visit to view and feel the quality of their security screen doors. You can quickly learn a lot about a business by visiting one of their locations, seeing the size and organization of their operation, briefly conversing with their employees and getting a better feel for how they conduct business. First Impression has
5 conveniently located showrooms in Arizona open 7 days a week, and we invite and encourage all of our clients to visit any of our locations including touring our manufacturing campus in Gilbert, AZ. All of our locations have many
products and
options on display for your inspection and consideration.
4. Who is going to INSTALL my security screen door and is this included in my purchase price? Avoid security door companies that outsource the installation of their doors. Many companies rely on subcontractors to do the installation often times resulting in additional fees or an unsatisfactory outcome, where you could be caught in the middle between who built the door and who installed the door. First Impression possesses the
Registrar of Contractors license required for installations and has a team of employees that are highly skilled, professionally trained Installation Technicians who install all of our products throughout Arizona. Our employee installers know our products best and take pride in the First Impression brand ensuring a high quality, tight fitting, professional installation that stands the test of time.
5. Who is going to SERVICE my security door should the need arise? Similar to the installation of the door, find out exactly who will perform a service call on your door if needed and what awards they have won for customer service. You should always consider the question of whether the company will still be in business when you need them. At First Impression a customer never needs to worry about being caught between the company who built your door, the ones who installed your door, and which company is going to service your door...it's one call and our employees are with you every step of the way as we have been with all of our clients since 1995. We are proud to hold the
Angie's List Super Service award 6 years in a row, maintain a
spotless record with the Arizona ROC, and an
A+ Accredited Business Rating with the Better Business Bureau since 2002.
6. What are the details of your WARRANTY and is this included in my purchase price? Read the small print and don't be afraid to ask about the details. A company's warranty is often something of an afterthought for a consumer once the purchase has been made, so make sure you know up front what is under warranty.
First Impression's Ironclad Warranty and Care Protection Plan is included with every purchase and provides a lifetime structural and installation warranty to ensure years of enjoyment for your investment.
7. How long will it take to build my door and when will it be installed? Ask about lead times. The last thing you want when making an exciting purchase is to wait for months before you can enjoy your new door. First Impression has an industry leading reputation for the quickest delivery of our custom built products without sacrificing quality. Our skilled employees, high tech equipment and decades of experience allow us to provide the best lead times in the industry for our custom built products.
8. Is the door made from STEEL or ALUMINUM? When investing in a security door, protect your family and home with the strength and security that only steel can offer. Aluminum is a very light weight and flexible metal, not commonly known for its strength.
9. Will my security screen door be "FRAME mounted" or "FLUSH mounted"? A flush mounted security door does not include an independent steel mounting frame and is considered by most crime prevention experts to be a less secure, lower quality door and installation. All First Impression security doors include FRAME mounting with an independent steel mounting frame for the highest level of security and quality. First Impression will flush mount your security door at your request, but we DO NOT recommend the flush mounted installation method. It's wise to make sure your security door includes an independent steel mounting frame.
10. Will the hinges of my security screen door be welded onto the frame? Welded hinges are NOT recommended for a few reasons. Welding door hinges to the frame results in the inability to make adjustments during the installation process to ensure a square, tight, custom sealed fit to your home. Welded hinges also do not allow for future adjustments to the door when your home "settles" which may cause your door to not function properly in the future. Additionally, if a company welds hinges to the door frame they are not using a door component called "Z-bar" channel. Z-bar allows for the use of industry-best, high quality felt weather stripping. Without Z-bar, manufacturers are forced to use an inferior foam tape weather stripping that will quickly deteriorate in virtually every climate, inviting weather and bugs into your home. First Impression security screen doors come standard with the highest quality hinges, secured to the steel mounting frame and Z-bar with one-way security screws in addition to "vault pins" into the frame for the highest level of protection, security, and custom installation ensuring a tight seal against weather and bugs.
11. Is the door finished with POWDER COATING or PAINT? Powder coating steel is a very durable, high quality, long term finish baked on at 400 degrees offering superior protection and longevity to that of paint. With minimal care, powder coat won't peel or deteriorate over time like paint, providing a beautiful finish for years to come.
12. Who does the POWDER COATING? Not many security door companies have their own powder coating facility, resulting in outsourcing this phase of manufacturing and leading to a lack of quality control, unnecessary damage in transit, and delays in production. First Impression has a full service powder coating facility on site, ensuring all of our products receive the highest quality finish in a timely fashion. Choose from over
60 powder coat colors in stock, or add a
faux finish to the powder coating for an extra special look and feel.
