Keynote Speaker Announced
Get ready to cross bike advocate generations and recruit 20 somethings to advocate for bicycling. Jason Ryan Dorsey -- The Gen Y Guy® you may have seen on 60 Minutes, 20/20, The Today Show, The View, or in Fortune Magazine -- is the National Bike Summit's keynote speaker. A Gen Y'er himself, he will teach us how to work with and utilize Gen Y's talents. Dorsey teaches ready-to-use actions and creative strategies to quickly increase cross-generational performance -- something the bike advocacy movement has attempted to accomplish for years. The Chief Strategy Officer for The Center for Generational Kinetics, Dorsey studies the unique dynamics created within a multigenerational workforce and will break down how to effectively communicate, work with and recruit volunteers from the Gen Y pool. It's time to change the message for every 20 something. They already know bicycling is practical and fun but they don't know that they need to save cycling too. Learn more about our keynote speaker on his What the Gen?! blog and on his YouTube channel youtube.com/user/whatthegen.

Your Chance to Meet New Industry Staff
The Bike Summit is a great opportunity to meet the new and leading staff in the industry who are working to make America a better place to bicycle. Several organizations have added new government or communications staff, and the Summit is your chance to introduce yourself. Bikes Belong hired their first fulltime Director of Government Relations Ivette Rivera Hayes. For the past 20 years Hayes served as the Executive Director of Legislative Affairs for the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA). America Bikes hired a new Communications Coordinator Mary Lauran Hall. Hall will play a role in the strategizing Hill meetings during the Summit. America Walks recently hired Yolanda Savage-Narva as their campaign director. Savage-Narva has worked in the public health field for more than 10 years. Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals (APBP) is now represented by Paul Kanitra, founder and president of Lobbyit.Com. Kanitra has more than a decade of unique and varied legislative experience and a political background that includes work in Congress, on behalf of large and small corporations, non-profit associations, municipalities and Native American reservations.

Make Travel Plans Now
The Bike Summit is less than three months away, so please make your travel accommodations and lodging early. Many flights and hotels sell out during March due to several national conventions and the cherry blossoms. Visit the Summit's travel page for hotel, plane, train and map info. If you are interested in finding a homestay, the Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA) will try to match you to a home.
