Canada's Day of the Child Fair

Friday, November 20
9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
In 1959 and 1989, Canada joined with the United
Nations to promote the well-being of children.
To
celebrate, the Children's Discovery Museum and Market Mall are hosting
a fair - exhibits, music, dancing, displays, and children's
activities will be presented by non-profit or volunteer
organizations throughout the Mall.
Admission to the Museum
will be free.
Please join us in celebrating!
Display tables for non-profit and volunteer organizations can be booked through Market Mall
Guest Services and cost $20. All proceeds go to the Museum. |

Greetings!
Fall is here, although you'd never know it by the weather! We have lots of fun things happening at the Children's Museum: new programming for school visits, the Day of the Child Fair, our holiday card fundraiser, and of course our ongoing weekend workshops and guest speakers. We hope to see you soon! |

Annual General Meeting |

When: Tuesday,
September 29 at 6:30 p.m.
Where: Children's Discovery Museum, Market Mall
Come and hear about our past year and future plans, and enjoy some tasty
treats!
We will have a motion to amend the bylaws, section 2. Membership as follows:
There are two classes of Membership as in the Articles of Incorporation.
A. Regular Members are entitled to all privileges of
membership including the right to vote at meetings of members, to be elected as
Directors, and unlimited entrance to the museum.
B 1. Associate Individual Members are entitled to all privileges of Membership
except the right to vote at meetings of the Members and to be elected as
Directors but including unlimited entrance to the museum.
B 2. Associate Family Members are entitled to all privileges of Membership
except the right to vote at meetings of the Members and to be elected as
Directors but including unlimited entrance to the museum.

School Visits |

 Are you looking for somewhere new to take your class this year? We are happy to welcome school groups on Mondays and Tuesdays. As well as free play and a craft to take home, we are now offering 30-40 minute guided programs. Please click here for more information and costs. |

Holiday Cards
|
|
Our young Museum visitors have been busy for weeks drawing artwork for our holiday cards. We will soon be turning the creations into colorful holiday cards and selling them as a fundraiser - with all proceeds going to the Children's Discovery Museum. Stay tuned! Sales start next month.

Job Posting

 The
Children's Discovery Museum is hiring for the position of Visitor Services Representative. Tasks include greeting visitors, taking
payments, answering calls, taking bookings, general tidying and cleaning,
activity preparation, supervising volunteers, and most importantly, helping children and families make the most of their visit!
Salary:
$13.00/hr
Hours: four days a week (daytime), including Saturday

date: October 1, 2009

Are you interested in getting more involved in the Children's Discovery Museum?
We have all kinds of opportunities! We are continuing to grow as an organization - we recently formed several committees and are keen to meet new enthusiastic people. Some of the things we do include:
- Planning events
- Seeking sponsorships and donations
- Advertising and promoting
- Designing and implementing programs
- Creating new exhibits
- Researching and writing grants
We are also always looking for Museum Attendants to help our staff keep the Museum safe, tidy and fun! Please contact the Museum at 683-2555 if you are interested in volunteering with us.
