Monarch Butterfly Tagging and Nature Walk
Saturday, September 15
9 to 11 a.m.
Audrey Carroll Audubon Sanctuary

More than 40 different species of butterflies have been observed at the Audrey Carroll Audubon Sanctuary.  Join us as we explore the Sanctuary looking for and learning about butterflies.  Take part in Monarch conservation as we tag Monarch butterflies for the Monarch Watch Program. These amazing creatures will fly 2,000 miles to over-winter in central Mexico.

People of all ages are welcome.  Meet at 9 a.m. at the entry gate to the sanctuary at 13030 Old Annapolis Road (just east of Detrick Road) in Mt. Airy. No rest room facilities are available, and the walk will be cancelled in the event of inclement weather. For more information contact Cheryl Farfaras at 410-313-4726 or cfaras@comcast.net.

Help Us Keep Our Books for the Birds!

Want to help the birds and do so from home in your spare time? While our two Audubon wildlife sanctuaries are providing homes for birds and other wild critters, the nuts and bolts of keeping our chapter running are crucial to keeping the sanctuaries as productive habitat. Our seed sales, native plant sales, and birdathons raise money from loyal supporters to pay the bills, but it takes a treasurer to keep track of those contributions, make the bank deposits, write the checks, and complete the annual Tax Form 990 for Uncle Sam. If you think you might be able to help the birds by 'keeping the books,' please contact Shannon Kennedy.
