Volunteers...We are looking for a few good folks to assist in cleaning up the sanctuary. Tasks vary from weeding, cleaning, and mowing. A great way to spend a few hours in the outdoors and contribute to improving our local habitats!

On May 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the Frederick County Office of Sustainability & Environmental Resources will offer a "Neighborhood Green Workshop" at Linganore High School. This is an opportunity to get help in developing a plan for creating natural areas and woodland on your property for the benefit of aesthetics, wildlife, and water quality. Nature Walk for Spring Migrants

Fred Archibald Audubon Sanctuary

Saturday, April 21st 9:00-11:00 am 

 Participants will be looking for early spring migrants such as Broad-winged Hawk, Brown Thrasher, Gray Catbird, American Robin, House Wren, Eastern Phoebe, Louisiana Waterthrush, Tree Swallow, and the first arrivals at the Purple Martin colony.  Most of our resident birds will be well into nesting by that time and should be in full song.  Some that we will see and hear include the Carolina Chickadee, Tufted Titmouse, White-breasted Nuthatch, Northern Cardinal, Red-bellied Woodpecker, Downy Woodpecker, Eastern Bluebird, and Carolina Wren.  There will also be plenty of butterflies beginning to emerge including the spring azure and juvenal's duskywing.  And for the plant lovers the spring ephemeral flowers may be will past their prime this year.  Come join in the explosion of spring!

People of all ages are welcome. The sanctuary entrance, marked by an "Audubon" sign, is located on Boyers Mill Road, just one mile north of Rte. 144. No rest room facilities are available, and the walk will be cancelled in the event of inclement weather. 14th Annual Native Plant Sale

Audrey Carroll Sanctuary

Saturday, April 28th, 9:00-2:00

Native Plant Sale at the Audrey Carroll Audubon Sanctuary, sponsored by the Audubon Society of Central Maryland. The Sanctuary is located at 13030 Old Annapolis Road (just east of Detrick Road) in Mt. Airy. 
This is an opportunity to obtain plants which are well adapted to the weather and soil of our area, but which can rarely be obtained from local nurseries.
