The Great Backyard Bird Count
February 17-20
The 2012 Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) will start on Friday, February 17th, and run through the following Monday, February 20th (i.e., over the Presidents' Day weekend).
If you haven't participated in past years, give it a try this year! You'll see how getting involved in a scientific effort can actually be fun and easy! The GBBC is open to everyone!
Remember, just by doing what you enjoy doing anyway, watching the birds at your feeders, you can help to make this annual event successful. Your bird counting contributions really do count, and it's always impressive to see how the many small contributions add up to create a big, comprehensive picture of our U.S. bird population.

We will look for wintering birds and possibly some very early spring migrants. The sanctuary contains meadows as well as forests so there is a wide variety of habitats for different birds. The walk is suitable for all ages.

Wear sturdy shoes and clothing appropriate for the predicted weather. There are no rest room facilities at the sanctuary, and the walk will be cancelled in the event of inclement weather or deep snow.
