GBBC 2011

The 2011 Great Backyard Bird Count will take place Friday, February 18 through Monday, February 21. Please join us!

This is an annual four-day event that engages bird watchers of all ages in counting birds to create a real-time snapshot of where the birds are across the continent. Anyone can participate, from beginning bird watchers to experts. It takes as little as 15 minutes on one day, or you can count for as long as you like each day of the event. It's free, fun, and easy-and it helps the birds.

See www.birdcount.org for colorful and interesting information on how to participate.

A Special Message to All of Our
Generous Supporters

On behalf of all the critters, insects, birds, and plants that live on or near our Audrey Carroll or Fred Archibald Nature Sanctuaries in eastern Frederick County Maryland, I want to THANK all of YOU who helped in any way to maintain, improve and protect these beautiful properties.

Help comes in many ways:

* Day-to-day helpers that ease the load

* Bluebird Trail, Purple Martin and other Monitors

* Fundraising thru our October and January Birdseed Sales, our Spring Plant Sale, Spring Birdathon, and other generous Donations and Memorial contributions

* Many Scout projects that have included, most recently, Holly Tree Groves, a Monarch Butterfly Way-Station, a Bat Colony Box, and a Chickadee Tube Trail

Hope that 2011 will continue to provide opportunities for ALL to help, in some way, with the wonderful legacy that Audrey Carroll and Fred Archibald have left us!

Bill Becraft, Audubon Sanctuary Manager
