piliated woodpecker Winter Nature Walk
Jan. 16th 9 to 11 am.
Audrey Carroll Audubon Sanctuary

The resident winter birds have settled in. There should be plenty of woodpeckers. Last year at this time we saw a piliated woodpecker as well as red bellied, hairy, and downy woodpeckers. If it warms up enough we may encounter bluebirds as well as robins and there is always the possibility of a flock of Cedar Waxwings with their high pitched zztt zztt call.

People of all ages are welcome.

Meet at 9 a.m. at the entry gate to the sanctuary at 13030 Old Annapolis Road (just east of Detrick Road) in Mt. Airy. No rest room facilities are available, and the walk will be canceled in the event of inclement weather.
