Gretchens Greetings!

Gretchen Phelps

Executive Director

I can't believe that October is upon us!  McMinnville Area Habitat for Humanity has been anxious to start building a house all summer and even though we usually start our homes in the spring, we are going to get started this month - it is finally happening!  Our new house plans are very special and the volunteer crews will be part of a new adventure for our affiliate.   As soon as we can, we will be pouring a slab on grade foundation for the home.  It has layers of insulation and will be the base of the home.  We are gathering estimates from local businesses and taking advantage of great partnerships that Habitat for Humanity International has made for building supplies and sub-contracted projects.  If you are not already on our list as a volunteer and are interested in learning about green building first hand, please contact us so we can sign you up for this project!  I am warming up my hammer-pounding arm - please join me!

Thank You!

Jodi Boundy

Volunteer Coordinator

Today is my last day as Volunteer Coordinator for MacHfh. I have enjoyed every minute in the last four years, but I feel it is time to make a change.
I have met and worked with the most amazing people and  I will miss being around on a regular basis.
I want to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to everyone connected with McMinnville Area Habitat. You have all made this job an easy task. You have answered my calls and emails for help on the construction sites, at the ReStore and fundraising events. I have often said this is the easiest job in the world because so many of you support this cause that we all truely believe in.
I have been amazed at watching a family go from turning that initial shovel of dirt to opening the doors of their new home with their own key. You can see the change in them as they work along side our volunteer crews. What we do is so special and we can only continue with a strong volunteer workforce.

As I leave I want to remind everyone how important it is to volunteer.  I know how it makes me feel to spend time at Memorial Elementary each week helping the students choose and check out books.Volunteering is such a great way to keep connected to our community and to other people. It does make a difference no matter how we choose to spend our volunteer time.

I invite you all to join me out on the Elmwood Street Project, sign up for the upcoming Aspire Community Project, call the ReStore for a shift or check into volunteering for Run, Walk or Ride or Oregon Brews and BBQ's.
Thank you!
Jodi
