Quality Assurance

As our past students of KGIC know, providing quality services is a point we take pride in.

Recently our ESL campuses in British Columbia are honoured to be recognized by British Columbia Education Quality Assurance (EQA). In the past this status was reserved only for public institutions.

We are happy to have the EQA seal as a private ESL institution in British Columbia recognizing the quality programs we've always been happy to offer at all our KGIC campuses.

 BC Education Quality Assurance

Greetings!

"April showers bring May flowers." Of course for those of us at KGIC campuses in BC, April has already brought the arrival and passing of the cherry blossoms. At our Eastern Canadian campuses students have enjoyed the warmer, though unpredictable, weather as the gardens begin to bloom there as well.

Vancouver Sun RunApril is a great month to start getting active outdoors. This past month staff and teachers of KGIC and KGIBC - CTC participated in the Vancouver Sun Run as a way to get active and to help raise money for charity.

In May KGIC is proud to celebrate our 15 year anniversary. In the last fifteen years we have grown from one school with five classrooms to seven campuses across Canada. We'd like to thank all our past students for being part of our history. We'd love to hear your stories and updates about your time at KGIC to add to our celebrations. Please send an e-mail with your story and photo to alumni@kgic.ca.

If you would like to contribute to KGIC e-News for any other reason, or to just say "Hello" send us an e-mail any time to alumni@kgic.ca.

Nothing Says Canada Like Maple Syrup
KGIC Toronto Spring Activity

Making Maple SyrupSpring has finally arrived in Canada, and though the season may take its time there are few spring time pleasures as sweet as a maple syrup run. Once the temperature starts to rise the sap in the maple trees starts to flow. This is the season when maple syrup is made and a spring time activity unique to Eastern Canada.

Late last March, a little over thirty five energetic and eager students braved the freezing cold to participate in the Maple Syrup Activity Trip. The introduction to the maple syrup farm started with an enjoyable, short, bumpy wagon ride to a cabin, where the first maple tree was presented.

Each step of explaining the process of making maple syrup was demonstrated using trees along the way, as well as working sheds and cauldrons. Tree after tree, the process of purifying and cleaning became more and more interesting and tastier! Not only did we get to try sample shots of real maple syrup, we received a free pancake lunch accompanied by different choices of hot beverages.

After everything was explained and eaten, students were given free time to warm up by the camp fire or explore more of the maple farm.  As an added bonus to our maple syrup farm tour, we stopped along the way at a farmer's market.  Although the fruits and veggies hadn't blossomed much due to the weather, students were able to grasp the idea of inside and outside vendors selling loads of healthy food.

Along with food, there were outlet stores selling good quality clothes, jewelry, bags, shoes and furniture for amazingly cheap prices.  By the end of all these adventures, it was enough to make the once energetic students all tired out and many were fast asleep on the bus ride home.

Global Business English in Victoria
Student Story: Allan Park

GBE student, Allan ParkHi! My name is Hyeong Min Park (Allan).

Since I came here, Victoria has given me a lot of good memories. Especially the time I've spent in the Global Business English (GBE) course is my best memory.

The GBE course has opened so many amazing doors for me. There are lots of industries in the world. Many people don't know how important it is we learn the world of business to develop the economy of our country. In this course, we can learn the world of business. After class, I was training my business skills at the Sandman Hotel. During the practicum I've learned a lot of things, for example, business, housekeeping, management, front desk and office work.

Especially the business work is my favorite part of practicum, because my manager suggested I go to clothing stores for marketing. I didn't know why we had to go there for business.

Finally I realized that this way was awesome for advertising the hotel. My manager gave discount tickets to the shop employees. This hotel is a franchise hotel in Canada [and is good for] when they have to travel wherever in Canada. Then we expect that when guests visit in their shop, they could introduce our product. This is the marketing and as she said, "Wow~ that's fantastic!!"

Actually I didn't know that whole of that business but KGIBC gives me that I know how to open the world's door. "KGIBC is forever with me"
