Greetings!
March is upon us, and as the saying goes, March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb. This month March has brought many surprises, none as tragic as the recent events in Japan. The academic director of KGIC Vancouver, Grace Mikasa, would like to extend the following message to all KGIC students, past, present and future.
"On behalf of all of us at KGIC, I would like to send our sincerest thoughts to students whose families and friends have been affected by the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan. We hope that even in the darkest moments in life your memories and friends from KGIC are there to support you. We would like everybody to know that we, here at KGIC, are sending our positive thoughts to you."
Students, staff, and teachers at all KGIC campuses have been active in fundraising for the relief efforts in Japan. For more on how you can help please check the links in Donate to Japan.
We love to hear your stories and updates. If you would like to contribute to KGIC e-News or just say "Hello" send us an e-mail any time to alumni@kgic.ca. Sincerely, Your KGIC Alumni Society KGIC Education Group

KGIC Halifax Welcomes Stuart Mckeown
Hi everyone!
I'm Stuart Mckeown, the new Director of Halifax KGIC. I have been living in beautiful Nova Scotia for almost two years now and I have fallen in love with it. The people, atmosphere, culture and character of the city are all so friendly, down to earth and welcoming. Originally I am from the UK, but on my travels teaching English in Europe I met my wife, who is a Canadian citizen.

After finishing a joint honours degree in History and Politics from the Queen's University of Belfast I coupled my desire to travel with my ambition to teach and decided to do a C.E.L.T.A. I taught English in Poland for two years which was an amazing experience where I learned a lot about myself, the world and English teaching.
On coming to Canada I looked for opportunities to continue my passion for teaching and found a job with KGIC. The company has been terrific for me since day one, and I have enjoyed the tremendous opportunity it gives me to meet many people from all corners of the earth. Since joining KGIC I have met many really cool people who I now consider my friends. Now as director I face many new exciting challenges and a wonderful opportunity to provide a positive environment for students in Canada.
On a personal note I have many hobbies and interests including mountain walking, reading and sport. My number one passion however is football, a game known to Canadians as soccer! I am a massive Arsenal FC fan. I used to play the game, but due to injuries and my ever increasing waist line I am now just an armchair viewer.
Thank you very much and I look forward to seeing more new students in Halifax!

English for Post-Secondary Education
A KGIC Pathway to your Future
EPE (English for Post-Secondary Education) is a preparation class for Canadian and American university/college exams, texts, essays, presentations, lectures, and seminars. In the class, the core skills studied include vocabulary, reading, writing, and listening. For students interested in going to college or university in North America this is an exciting opportunity!
My name is Kean and I am a Chinese student. I came to Vancouver to study business at Sprott-Shaw College. After EPE, I will go to Sprott-Shaw and start my real college life. I think EPE is a good class because it is helpful to my understanding of post-secondary expectations. In EPE, I gain a lot of knowledge on how to study, how to write good essays, and how to work with people.

Hi, my name is Yusaku and I'm from Japan. I would like to study business and more specifically, accounting at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Vancouver. After EPE, I want to learn some principles of accounting and later, graduate from university. I like EPE because of its convenient location and time, as I often have a very busy schedule.

My name is Danny and I am from Taiwan. My major is business and I am currently studying at Fairleigh Dickinson University. After EPE, I will take more academic courses and hopefully graduate afterwards. I like EPE because the class is fun and I enjoy learning interesting topics.
Note: Students who apply and complete EPE may obtain a conditional letter of acceptance from one of KGIC's partner schools and can bypass the TOEFL/IELTS entry exam
