How Two Simple Yoga Poses Can  

Help Mild Back Pain 

  Jathara 

 

This twist is great for massaging the internal organs and for releasing tightness in the back. It is also a good preparation for relaxation. Jathara

 

*    Lie on your back with the arms at a T. Lift the knees to your chest and roll them towards the right elbow. Keep the left shoulder on the floor.
*    Stay for 4-6 breaths, letting the exhale relax every muscle.
*    Go to the other side.
*    After completing both sides several times, rest in your back.

"This is a big year for me. In less than six months, I turn thirty.
Like many others, over the course of the holidays I decided to make a health related commitment.
I've purchased a one-year unlimited pass and for this first bit of January I've reached my goal by hitting the mat three times a week.
Living a more balanced life, being in a more general state of contentment by practicing compassion and acceptance of my psychological and physiological circumstances, brings me to a better place.
Yoga is an excellent avenue to do this. I have already had a few mental moments of resistance - putting my boots on and ambling for fifteen minutes to the studio when it's -25 out doesn't come as easily as other things (putting on the kettle and curling up with a book, for instance), but how I feel during and after practice brings me gratitude.
And so far, it seems to me, life is a more rewarding journey when I'm appreciative of what is."

The Power of Movement 

Join Yoga Studio staff member Crystal and past Yoga Studio College
graduate, Kim McNeil, in supporting the Power of Movement event on March 4, 2012!  This yoga event helps to raise awareness and funds for
arthritis and autoimmune disease research.  Arthritis can affect a person at any age and yoga is great activity for maintaining a healthy lifestyle, so it's just natural that these two things come together for this nationwide event.

The JCC offers a babysitting service with loving, qualified and certified instructors. Come early to a 9.30 am weekday class and drop off your child into good hands while you relax on the yoga mat.
Please be sure to register by calling 403-253-8600 ext. 218 or email babysitting@cjcc at least 24 hours in advance. 
Monday-Friday
9.00-11.00 am (maximum two hours)
$5 JCC members/$7 non-JCC members
