Yoga's dramatic benefits - reducing stress and beating junk food cravings: a personal story.
The wonderful thing about running a yoga studio is hearing the wonderful stories every week of how Iyengar Yoga has helped someone dramatically improve their life.
This month you can read the story below of Shailu Dee, who knew from her first class she had found the answer to her junk food cravings and stress after moving here from India last year.
Coming to yoga four or five times a week, she is coping way better with the culture shock and the weather here in Calgary!

Highlights and what is new!
| A quick summary of what's new. . . . New Teacher at the JCC - Starting in January Sandy Martino will be taking over Tom King's Sunday classes. Tom has been great in building numbers. Thanks Tom; you're amazing! I am sure Sandy will be as popular as she is at Wellington Square, where she handles the biggest classes.

Shailu's amazing story!
A year back, I had moved from India to Calgary, super stressed, jobless, frequently craving sugar and fries and was trying to deal with Calgary's dramatic winter. It was just such a day that I was introduced to Trish's Level One class by husband, Dee.

Little did I know that I would discover a whole new universe within myself. At the end of that class, I walked out completely enlightened with just one thought - to come back for more. Committing to a regular and dedicated practice since then, my restless mind has learnt to stay calm and content in any situation.
Within a few weeks my urge for unhealthy food was disappearing and the yoga practice gave me the determination and patience to find a job, manage my body weight and boost my immunity to falling sick.
Now, everyday I wake up eagerly looking forward to Tamara's fun filled & free spirited energy flow, Trish's long-holding poses and breathing exercises, Vic's experiments in surrendering to the pose and Rob's
intellectual and challenging sessions.
I am very grateful to all the Yoga Studio South teachers for their guidance and support and I have now begun to grasp the true essence of Yoga (union of mind, body and spirit). As I roll out my mat every evening at the studio, I promise myself to continue my yoga practice not for perfection, but passion.
