Yoga Student Loses 40 pounds in 7 months with Iyengar Yoga!
|
Bonnie and Narinder Jugdev
"One year ago, you wouldn't have caught either of us doing headstands! Since joining the JCC Yoga Studio, at the beginning of January last year, we have had much change and success in our health and life overall! Then, we were looking for something healthy and

| good for us that we could do together. We decided to try yoga and are so glad we did. One year ago Narinder had high blood pressure, was on meds for his heart, had carpel tunnel syndrome and chronic low back pain and was 10 pounds heavier. I was just generally out of shape and in the last 7 months, have lost 40 pounds. The improvement that we have both noticed in our overall health has been amazing! We have grown mentally, physically and spiritually! This October we celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, Narinder turns 50 in August (my turn next year) and we are so happy to be able to reach these milestones feeling so much better about everything and where we are in life!" We have made Iyengar yoga a priority and our goal this year is to attend Iyengar yoga classes at least 3 times a week, and so far we have done so. And the best part is going together as a couple! A BIG thank you to the Yoga Studio for everything that we have learned from all of our wonderful, patient and amazing teachers! Namaste, Bonnie and Narinder Jugdev |

Great Chakra Workshop with Gwen Ritch Coming up in April!
Sunday April 10 1:30-4:30
Register by phone or in person only
This three-hour workshop activates the chakras through sound and posture. Beginning with simple breath work, the class evolves to a smooth gentle flow practice. This is enhanced by guided visualization and hands-on energy therapy, complemented with a soundtrack of sacred tones.
Appropriate for all levels, assisting with healing on a physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual level.
What is a Chakra? Our body has centres of energy, called Chakras (Sanskrit
 |
The Seven Chakras
| meaning 'spinning wheel of energy') to help us process universal energies around and within us. Yoga recognizes seven Chakras, which although invisible to normal perception, directly correspond to specific locations in our physical body. They form a central column from the crown of the head to the base of the spine. When we open them through our yoga practice and align them, we allow our vital life-force (also known as Ki or Prana) to flow freely through. Working the Chakras fosters integration of all aspects of your life.
