Shadow Ambassador Program

As a reminder to Shadow premier players and parents, this fall the Club has launched the Shadow Ambassadors Program.  The objectives of the program are to:

·    Provide Shadow Youth Soccer Club players the opportunity to positively interact with and give back to the local community;
·    Instill a sense of responsible community service in our players;
·    Elevate the profile of the Club in the community.

These objectives will be accomplished by Shadow Ambassadors participating in three community service events during the 2009-2010 season:

TOPSoccer  (September 16-October 28, 2009)
Shadow Jamboree  (October 11, 2009)
Youth Advancement Program (Spring, 2010)

Upon completion of three or more Shadow Ambassador events and at the conclusion of the program, participants will receive:

·    A certificate of completion;
·    Letter of commendation signed by the program sponsor, Board President, and Club Technical Director;
·    Inclusion in notifications sent to the Spokesman Review, Inlander, Spokane Youth Sports Soccer Coordinator and Washington State Youth Soccer PLAY ON publication.

If you would like to enroll in this very important community-minded Shadow program, e-mail Jim Wilson at Ambassadors@spokaneshadow.org.

TopSoccer is a community-based program for differently-able players over 4 years of age, who have a mental or physical disability.  Organized by youth soccer association volunteers, this unique program enables these special athletes to play at levels consistent with their skills, not necessarily their age.

Since program inception Shadow players AND PARENTS have served as "Soccer Buddies" who assist core coaches in working with these very special children.

Top soccer "training sessions" are held at the Indoor Soccer Center each Wednesday from 5:30pm to 6:30pm (younger ages) and 6pm to 7pm (older ages) beginning September 16, with the final awards session on October 28th.  Volunteers elect to work with one age group and ideally for all 7 weeks (but any assistance is appreciated).

Ambassadors earn one point toward their three point Ambassador commitment for participating in any four training sessions.

The second Shadow Ambassador volunteer opportunity is the the Shadow Jamboree on October 11th.  This is a youth 3v3 play day for SYSA recreational players (8 and 9 year olds) who anticipate trying out for the Club in the future.  It is a great opportunity for Shadow players to work with recreational players and your help is needed!

Please email Ambassadors@spokaneshadow.org if you can help.  You will then receive more information about location and time commitment details.

Play Day 2

The Youth Advancement Program (YAP) will be held in the spring of 2010.  The YAP is the Shadow's popular youth training program designed to provide advanced training opportunities for recreational players.  Ambassadors serve as junior coaches, learning the techniques they can then pass on to their children.  More information will be announced in early, 2010.
