Pray for the persecuted church  in Saudi Arabia

Join us for the next 3-Hour Serving Day!

Make plans to team up with your church family for our next 3 Hour Serving Day on September 29 from 9 AM to 12 Noon. The purpose of 3 Hour Serving is to provide opportunities to spread the love of Christ through community service throughout the Desoto County and Memphis area. We are called to "serve one another in love" and 3 Hour Serving gives you a great opportunity to do just that! In addition to the next serving day on September 29, we will have one more serving date in 2012 which will be December 29. 3 Hour Serving is open to anyone, not just Getwell Road family, who is seeking an opportunity to make a difference in our community by serving others. Mark your calendars now to participate September 29 and don't forget to sign up at the Information Center or online at getwellroad.org or by clicking here. Deadline is September 16. More information, including serving location assignments, will be sent out to volunteers the week of September 24.

Starting Point begins Sept. 9

Are you curious about God? Are you looking to begin a relationship with Christ? Or perhaps you know someone that is looking for a great starting place in the church. If yes, then Starting Point might be the place to begin. Starting Point is a conversational environment where people can explore faith and experience community in a small group setting. Although Starting Point is primarily recommended for those who are reconnecting with God after being away from church for a while, those who are not sure about God or the Bible and want a safe place to discuss spiritual issues, or those who have recently started a relationship with God, anyone can benefit from this class. Even the facilitators of the class learn something new each time they teach it!

Do you have more questions or perhaps you are not sure if this class is for you? Please contact Susannah Fox at sfox@getwellroad.orgor 349-3680, ext. 229 for more information. Registration for the class is required and you may sign up at the Information Center. Each class is limited to eight participants so sign up early! (There is a $20 fee per participant for class materials which includes the Starting Point book and audio CDs. Please contact Susannah for scholarship availability).

Highlight: Good Shepherd Children's Home Honduras

Our Honduras Mission Team has been home for quite some time now, but they will all tell you that they left a little piece of their heart in Honduras with the children of the Good Shepherd Children's Home. We are honored to share the story of one of these children each week in Crosswire. This week we meet Erick Ariel. Read about him and how you can "adopt" him, or another child at the home, here.
