Students' Christmas Prom

By now, most of you have seen the posters around campus promoting the Student Christmas Prom.  This will take place Sunday, December 18th, from 5-8 in the FLC and is open to students 7th-12th grade.  Our students love dancing and love missions so we decided to combine the two.  The students will be bringing paper products for the Olive Branch Food Pantry.  It is a competition between small groups to see who can bring the most.  Our goal is 1,000 items but there have been promises made about what will happen if 2,000 and 3,000 items are brought.  If you would like to help out with this event we would love to have you!  For more details or questions contact Sarah P, spounders@getwellroad.org.

Coming Soon: Beth Moore's new study!

Both our Monday Night and Tuesday Morning Women's Bible Study classes will begin Beth Moore's new study, "James: Mercy Triumphs" in January. Click here to visit our website for the dates and details, along with a place to register!

Close out the year with 3-Hour Serving!

In January of this year a new ministry called 3 Hour Serving began. Throughout the year, thirteen teams of volunteers have served at ten different locations throughout Desoto and Shelby counties. On Saturday, December 31st, from 9AM to 12 Noon, you will have one last opportunity to participate in 3 Hour Serving in 2011. Why not make plans to close out the year by teaming up with your church family and go out into the community and spread the love of Christ by serving others? We are called to "serve one another in love" and 3 Hour Serving gives you a great opportunity to do just that! 3 Hour Serving is open to anyone, not just Getwell Road family, who is seeking an opportunity to volunteer and make a difference in our community. Mark your calendars now to participate December 31st. Don't forget to sign up at the Information Center or online here. Deadline is December 18th. More information, including serving location assignments, will be sent out to volunteers the week of December 26th.

Thumbs Up!

Zac Herring placed first in both the "speech" and "debate" categories at a tournament last Saturday at Hernando High School. Zac, who attends DeSoto Central High, competed against students from other DeSoto County schools as well as individuals from as far away as Tupelo and Pearl, MS.
