Well wishes for our 25th anniversary

Our Water Well project is underway with a goal to build six wells by Sept. 7th, in honor of our 25th Anniversary. So far almost $6400 has been collected PLUS a pledge from an anonymous donor to complete one entire well at $4,800!

Read more about the Water for Life ministry, and our project, on our website here.

Also, please take this opportunity to sign up to attend our special evening celebration on our anniversary, September 7th. You can do it now here.

Yoga workshop fundraiser: it's not too late to attend

Many people are getting creative with fundraisers for our Water Well project, and Lucy Gordon is no exception. Lucy, a registered yoga teacher, is conducting a 4-week yoga workshop starting August 10. The cost is $100 for all four sessions or $30 per single session. All proceeds will go towards our water well project. The class will meet on Wednesdays (Aug. 10, 17, 24 & 31) from 6-7:15 in the Chapel. Childcare available. You can pay at the door. Contact Lucy at Yahwehyoga@yahoo.com.  Please write "yoga workshop" in the subject line.

  • This Workshop is for you...
  • If you have ever suffered from low-back pain and would like to learn how to avoid future damage to your low back.
  • If you have tight hips and want to learn how to have better mobility through the hips and back.
  • If you tend to hold stress through your neck, shoulders or upper back.
  • If you have trouble going to sleep at night and want to learn techniques to relax the mind and the body.

Missions garage sale a success!

Thanks to all for your help with the missions garage sale!  Just over $1600 were raised on Saturday morning...a great blessing toward our ministries to Honduras and Kenya.

Cub Scout registration next Monday

Scouts meet here. Cub Scout Pack 190 will be registering Scouts on Monday, August 15th at 7 PM in the FLC. Scouting is learning by discovery and discovery by doing. It's fun, friends, and family where skills are learned, confidence is built, and stories are born.  A Scout who knows the buddy system learns to trust and be trusted. A Scout who hikes and camps learns to appreciate the outdoors and take care of it. And a Scout who's part of a den and a pack has a genuine sense of belonging. This is Scouting. Come and join us to learn about the fun and exciting program we have planned for boys in the 1st through 5th grades. Contact Lisa Wimberly at Lwimb2001@aol.com or Pat Eccles at Pateccles@comcast.net

New Kids' Praise Team & Creative Movement Team meeting

There is a mandatory parents meeting for a new Kids' Praise Team (Grades 4-6) and TWIGS Creative Movement Team (Grades 4-5) on Sunday, August 14th. Meet in Large Worship Room upstairs in Children's Building at 12:15-12:30 PM.  Contact Stacy Rogers (Praise Team) at lsustacy@gmail.com or Lisa Davidson (TWIGS) at lisaadavidson@comcast.net

Volunteers needed!

1 - That is the number of hours a month that children's ministry is looking for potential volunteers to commit to serving kids! Each of us has 720 hours a month. Can you give 1 hour to pour into our kids at Getwell Road? You don't have to be a Bible scholar or a professional teacher. The lessons are fun and interactive so consider joining us this year! Email Spring at sheflin@getwellroad.org.

A note about Night School

Dear Friends who participated in Night School and those who have considered joining us: We had a rocky spring as I dealt with a kidney stone (yuck!) and then Easter service rehearsals followed on the heels of that. My intention was to begin Night School again in the fall, hopefully September. However, after Bill's sermon a few weeks ago about how busy we stay and deciding how to pare down our activities, I don't feel the Lord leading me to do a continuing study. I have found myself neglecting relationships because of busyness, and that needs to be corrected. That said, I do feel the tug of the Holy Spirit about doing a study on "Understanding the Times," based on I Chronicles 12:32. I know it will take me some time to research and write this study, but when it is ready I know God will clear the calendar for me to teach it at the right time. I love our group and will greatly miss our fellowship on a regular basis, but let's continue to build our relationships with one another in the love of Christ. Thank you for all your encouragement to me. I love you all. -- Donna Sularin

What color do you bleed?

That's the theme of our next LifeBlood drive on Sunday, August 28, from 8:30 AM until 1 PM in Room AEA 2005. All donor participants get to vote for their favorite team with the winner announced after the drive. So don't be a Rebel, Dawg, come out with the force of a Tiger and give blood to help save lives!
