Down Memory Lane I Spotted a Connecticut Villa

Greetings!

When I think back to getting my first website up, in retrospect, I am not entirely correct thinking it wasn't all that hard. It was more a matter of what I didn't know at that point that made it seem simple.

Now, I realize that my website might be my first conversation with you. It needs to be able to say who I am and what I do. It has some responsibility of gathering my style and my personality in such a fashion that you can trust my artistic abilities.

My new website just launched. CLICK HERE to take a look. I'd be grateful if you visit, and even more so, if you let me know what you think. I can only take credit for the content. The nuts and bolts of making it run so smoothly is the fine work of Pat Marlin, of Business Technology Solutions in Newtown, CT.

What will you find there? First, what I'm always looking for in a site, lots of photos. You will also find two tabs that are not familiar. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you'll enjoy "Little Changes/BIG Results" as well as "Special Effects", a gallery of projects of different scopes and styles that deserve their placement here. You be the judge.

There is also what I like to consider helpful information. Check out "Murals Myths Debunked" and "Faux Finishing Facts". There is also my email library which contains dozens of projects detailed in past newsletters.

While under construction, I found myself pouring through hundreds of photos.

One project surfaced that I had not shared with you and so here it is. Nestled in picturesque Middlebury, CT, this 12,000 square foot villa has some of the loveliest architectural details that I have been fortunate enough to paint.

There is a groin ceiling at either end of the entrance hall. Two niches are perpendicular below the ceiling line. Here is one of the murals painted there.

Here is another shot of the groin ceiling.

Directly opposite the massive entrance doors, the fascade preceding the sunken living room is detailed with "grottesca".

Grottesca

Want to know more about grottesca ? Read about in on my website under the "Details" gallery.

In the breakfast nook,

garlands of flowers circle above the caramel glazed walls. The center dome is painted in a shimmering celery metallic.

Now check out these columns

 Columns

You don't want me to even try to explain how I reached them; Or once I got to them, how I got to the back sides of each column with less than 10" behind each. They are visible from the patio area outside on several angles so no cheating allowed.

Last room on the tour, CLICK HERE to see one of my earlier wine cellars. The "painted" sconces match the real ones on the opposite side of the dining table.  Click here for another picture from that wine cellar.

I sincerely hope you'll have a chance to visit my new website.

Thanks in advance,
