Greetings!

Mrs. Green Shout Outs & Short Green Blurbs
Permit me to start with the blurbs - bullet style!

· Do you know how happy it makes me when someone tells me they read my newsletter? Very. So heartfelt thanks.
· Check out our newest, ever-so-wonderful Rosie on the House green housing tip that will appear regularly in our newsletter! We LOVE Rosie on the House and admire who they are and what they stand for as a company, as a radio show and as a family. We are blessed to have them and thanks to Romey for reaching out. We've only just begun.
· I read In The Peace Garden by Beki Quintero to a group of kindergarteners at Hudlow Elementary School this past Monday as part of their Earth Month activities. The book is great, the kids were great and I love being Mrs. Green all day long but especially during Earth Month - imagine that. FYI, Beki Quintero actually built a peace garden in her neighborhood with the help of lots of children who created magic on a vacant lot.
· I received several posts on my blog in the past two weeks. You would have thought I won an Emmy for best writing. It's just nice to know people are reading it and caring enough to write back. Please join the ever-growing
Mrs. Green tribe and let your voice be heard.

More Shout Outs (the not about me news!)
I was going to post all the entries we received for the Mrs. Green's "What Have You Done to Turn Green" contest. But many of us have short attention spans as we live in a text messaging, Google, dot.com world. The entries, including the pictures, are AWESOME. Take a moment out of your busy life and check them out. When you go to my website, click on this month's contest, and then click on the link at the bottom of that page. Only THREE clicks away - one more than the average person likes but I promise you it will be worth it. And while you are there, enter this month's contest! It's all about sharing and creating a community.

Just one sample to whet your appetite:  "We replaced all of the light bulbs in our house with CFLs, switched to 100% biodegradable and eco-friendly cleaning products (like Ecover and 7th Generation), and we get our weekly supply of locally-grown 100% organic fruits and veggies (and most of the time, meats and eggs, too!) from our local CSA, or community supported agriculture. We purchase less pre-packaged food, cook at home more, and try to take into consideration the environmental impacts of simple everyday actions. We've even started a small garden on our patio -- now that's eating locally!"  Jacki Kuder

Green Drum Roll Please - More Reasons to Celebrate!
Welcome to the newest sponsor joining Mrs. Green's World...Scott Caddow and Legendary World. Starting in May, the Legendary World Travel Dude is going to do a twice monthly eco-travel segment on Mrs. Green Goes Mainstream. Scott will be sharing eco-friendly travel spots as well as eco-traveling trends from around the country and the world! In addition to being the Mrs. Green team's videographer, Scott runs a very successful travel company, is a self professed iPhone, iPad, iEverything junkie and has a heart of PURE gold. Our biggest challenge when he starts the radio spots will be:  a) to not interrupt each other because we both talk so much, and b) to keep from cracking up. Tell me you are not looking forward to this great addition to the Mrs. Green community!

And a big, warm, GREEN welcome to GeoInnovation as our very FIRST Solar advertiser! GeoInnovation's website proudly states: "GeoInnovation is locally owned and operated. We use PV modules manufactured in the U.S.A, European inverters, and a local electrical supplier." Straight, and to the point. George Villec is a nationally certified solar technician; he and his wife Linda own a company that enjoys a STELLAR reputation in Tucson; and George can frequently be spotted at events all over town operating a solar car that he designed. GeoInnovation's name is synonymous with quality, excellence and outstanding workmanship. Did I say proud? (Little tidbit: When George was a guest on Mrs. Green Goes Mainstream (seems like eons ago!) he arrived in his adorable solar car.) Welcome GeoInnovation.

Rosie On The House Tip

Did You Know?

Did you know that the Food Conspiracy Co-op was founded almost FORTY years ago in Tucson, Arizona and cooperatively owned by its members? Did you know that their produce department is ENTIRELY organic and that Co-op does not carry any products known to be genetically modified? Did you know that in addition to having the most extensive collection of bulk foods in Tucson, the Food Co-op is constantly expanding to bring certified organic, fair trade and independently produced items to their shelves? And I bet you didn't know this one - that Torey Ligon, their outreach coordinator and human being extraordinaire, is one of Mrs. Green's tutors, sounding boards and mentors on her journey of education and expansion as Mrs. Green?

Upcoming Shows

Mrs. Green, sponsored by The Fairfax Companies,
on the road again. Please come out and join the celebration of Earth Month at Biosphere 2! How fitting is it that Mrs. Green will interview previous guest and one of the Biosphereans Jane Poynter on this special day? Jane has just released her new book:  Champions for Change, about athletes making a world of difference. Also on the show will be Travis Huxman, Director, Biosphere 2 and B2 Earthscience Associate Professor, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at The University of Arizona. Phew... Huxman is a broadly trained biologist who is interested in the evolution of plant traits and the impacts of climate change on ecosystems. Guests who enjoy an international reputation in their specialty areas - of which there are many? You bet!

Green Fest4/24
Mrs. Green is on the road AGAIN for GreenFest 2010,
sponsored by Bookmans! Bob Oldfather, founder of Bookmans Entertainment Exchange and visionary for Tucson - The Solar City, will join Mrs. Green at the Tucson Botantical Gardens to talk about his vision for branding Tucson as The Solar City. GreenFest 2010 (sponsored by Bookmans and the Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona) is a free community event that will be filled with eco-conscious family fun and green living know-how! There will be interactive, hands-on workshops and activities for kids and adults. Tune in to hear Mrs. Green so you can hear about all of them. So come early and stay til the end. 8:30 to 2 p.m. Admission to GreenFest is FREE and a good time will be had by all!

Viva La Vida Verde5/1
Are you ready for Viva La Vida Verde - Livin' the Green Life from the Inside Out?  We hope so! Doucette Homes, Clean Cities, the Habistore and Mrs. Green are heading out to Doucette Homes at Civano Orchards for our first in a series of green business markets! Instead of selling produce or organic goat cheese like the Farmers Market, our dream is to gather businesses committed to selling tried and true green products and to show case them. We will have vendors with products for your home and/or who provide services that improve the quality of all of our lives - the first model in the country? We hope. Green home builder, alternative fuel vehicles, solar companies, eco-friendly deck tiles, green plumbing, green cleaning products - just color it green! We need you to help create the buzz and to successfully put the spotlight on Tucson!

Michael Shuman5/8
Michael Shuman - author, activist, brainiac. When I heard Michael Shuman speak at the University of Arizona several months ago, I couldn't stop talking about his message and actually, I still haven't. Author of The Small-Mart Revolution, Michael shared story after story about how local businesses are beating the global competition. He knows that bigger isn't always better and that in many cases, small locally owned businesses often outperform their "big box" competition. Michael will share with us dozens of specific examples that prove that small businesses are still the backbone of our Country's economic foundation. He is fun, he is informative and inspirational. You will love this show and Michael's message.

Gas Hole5/15
GasHole - Mrs. Green will interview filmakers Jeremy Wagener and Scott Roberts, who will talk about their documentary: Gashole. The two have joined forces to bring the history of oil prices and future alternative fuels into focus. Concerned with American dependence on foreign oil and curious as to how America could go from the largest exporter of oil to the largest importer, Wagener and Roberts sought out the opinions of such experts as U.S. Department of Energy officials, Alternative Fuel Producers, Alternative Fuel Consumers, Professors of Economics, and congressional leaders from both the Democratic and Republican parties. If you buy gas, you will want to tune in as Mrs. Green seeks some answers to the questions that many American consumers would like answers to. AND we will have a special interview with Mayor Bob Dixon from Greensburg, Kansas - the town destroyed by a tornado in 2007. Mayor Dixon will give us an update on what is planned in Greensburg to celebrate the anniversary of the Midwest town that was literally too tough to die!

Mrs. Green Goes Mainstream's All Green Talk Radio Show
Please remember to tune in to Mrs. Green Goes Mainstream every Saturday at 12:05 p.m. PST on NEWSTALK KNST 790 AM or live, streaming on the internet at www.790knst.com.
