QUICK LINKS
snow's ice cream
Frank Snow started Snow's Ice Cream in Conway 100 years ago. Frank delivered his ice cream using a horse drawn truck with blocks of ice to keep it cold. After Frank's retirement in 1930, his son Tom continued to make ice cream for 50 years. In 1983, Tom taught new owners Barbara Fingold and Gary Schaefer how to make ice cream the old fashioned way, essentially by hand in small batches using quality ingredients. Barbara and Gary continue the Snow's tradition today in their plant in Greenfield. Join us in wishing Snow's a happy 100th birthday!
NEIGHBORING FOOD CO-OPS AT NOFA SUMMER CONFERENCE
nofa mass 36th Annual Northeast Organic Farming Association (NOFA)Conference, August 13-15

Erbin Crowell (NFCA) and Robyn O'Brien (Putney Food Co-op) will be presenting for the Neighboring Food Co-op Association at the NOFA conference in Amherst, MA this August. As community owned businesses, food co-ops have long been leaders in local, organic and fairly-traded foods in the Northeast. Come learn how food co-ops are collaborating with local producers and other cooperatives to build a thriving regional economy and how you can get involved. The workshop (#11) will be Friday 8/13, 2-3:30 pm. To register, visit: http://www.nofasummerconference.org/index.php

Co-ops are well-represented at this year's NOFA conference, with additional workshops being presented by the Cooperative Fund of New England and the Valley Alliance of Worker Co-ops.

The Neighboring Food Co-op Association (NFCA) is an organization of 15 consumer cooperatives that seeks to assist our regional food co-ops in creating a healthy local food system and an integrated, vibrant cooperative sector. River Valley Market is a member of NFCA, along with many other nearby co-ops: Franklin Community Co-op (Greenfields Market & McKusker's Market), Putney Food Co-op, and Brattleboro Food Co-op to name a few.

NOFA is a non-profit organization of approximately 5,000 farmers, gardeners, land care professionals and consumers working to educate members and the general public about the benefits of a local organic food system based on complete cycles, natural materials and minimal waste for the health of individual beings, communities and the living planet. NOFA has chapters in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.
