Hello from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania:

The leaves have changed and fallen, our first frost is soon to come, baseball is over, football in full swing, crops are harvested and stored for the winter feed.  The last month of Fall is here and now our attention turns to Thanksgiving, Christmas and Hanukah.  The Innkeepers of Authentic are very thankful for all our guests who have stayed with us this past year.  This is a great time of year to visit our inns once again, take in a holiday show, shop for all of those presents, escape for some relaxation before the hustle bustle of the season.  In this newsletter, we highlight a few of the many things to do in Lancaster, Pennsylvania at this time of year.  We hope to see you again soon!

Come stay with us, you will be glad you did!

Authentic B&Bs Thank Vets in November

This month is an exciting one for Authentic Bed and Breakfast members.  We've joined forces with over 850 bed and breakfasts in the U.S. and abroad, to thank our veterans for their service to our country.

Bed and Breakfasts in our association are providing free rooms on Wednesday, November 10, in observance of Veterans Day, November 11, to honor servicemen and women currently serving or who have previously served our country. The program was started in 2009, and this year has expanded to include 49 states, 6 international locations and more than 850 Inns.

"We're proud to participate in this event, says Dave Harvey, innkeeper and president of Authentic B & Bs of Lancaster County.  "Giving a room to a Vet seems like such a small thing compared to what they've given us."

Participating Authentic Bed and Breakfasts have collectively donated 105 room-nights; a value of over $13,000!  To check out the complete list of B&Bs nationwide or to learn more about the event go to www.bnbsforvets.org.

We'll be making this an annual event, so if you're a veteran and you missed out this year, we hope you'll make plans to come stay with us in 2011!  And most importantly, THANK YOU!

  Dining Out

Dienner's Restaurant

Good Food,  Good Service, Good Price

If you are looking for an authentic PA Dutch Meal,  you should try Dienner's Country Restaurant in Ronks, just 2 miles east of Rockvale Outlets on Lincoln Highway. It's a small, quaint place with a buffet offering all of the local favorites such as chicken pot pie, ham loaf, pork and kraut and some of the best Dienner's Restaurantrotisserie chicken around.  The dinner buffet is reasonably priced at $8.99 Monday thru Thursday and $10.25 on Friday and Saturday.  And if you prefer, you can also order from a menu. Look around, you'll see many of the local Amish and Mennonites who love to dine here. That's always a good sign of great food!

And remember to save room for dessert. There are apple dumplings, shoofly pie and many more homemade Pennsylvania Dutch specialties.

The hours are limited and sometimes the lines are long!  But it is well worth the wait. Dienner's is  open 7AM to 6PM Monday thru Saturday except Friday when they stay open until 8PM. They are closed on Sunday.
