As you know, Staging a home is no longer considered a 'luxury' service, but has become an integral part of marketing and selling a property in today's world. The majority of buyer's want "move in condition" homes that have a wide appeal, neutral decor, and showcase the appearance of being well cared for.
Did You Know???
Studies done on Real Estate Staging show that only 28% of home sellers use staging as a valuable tool for selling their homes in a timely manner. So, for those who choose this option...they really set themselves apart and come to the market fully prepared to sell quickly and in turn, out-shine other competing homes in their market.

Greetings!
Hello everyone and Happy Spring. We have mountains of info to share with you this month, as well as two articles. The feature article is called, "Is Your Listing Really 'GREEN'" by Eric Fowler. The second article, "Baby Steps to Going Green," is written by me in the spirit of earth day and trying to keep our planet safe by making small changes in our daily living. And we are very excited to announce a special learning event (at the bottom of this email) called "Presentation is Everything." This event will be a complimentary seminar for agents. 16 Baby Steps to Going Green
by Christine Spitale www.sunflowerstaging.com
This ECO movement and going-green topic is all the rage right now, and for good reason. It is said that the "GREEN" business movement will become a $200 billion dollar industry in our lifetime. I have done some research and compiled a short list of earth-saving solutions for every part of your daily living. And when it comes to interior design, Real Estate Staging techniques and Redesign (one day decorating) are both "green" eco-friendly ways to decorate and style your home because both services re-use and re-purpose furnishings that you already own. Here are just a few "baby steps" for you to consider...
- Buying eco-friendly cleaning products for your home/office, click here to visit WOW Green; Contact Rhonda Rios for details at 845.863.4488
- Choose e-billing from vendors who offer a "paperless" option
- Do not print ATM receipts unless absolutely needed
- Buy textiles made from bamboo; bamboo grows very quickly and is sustainable...you can buy bamboo sheets and bedding from Target and other retailers, and ladies socks made from bamboo are available at Kohl's
- Use low VOC paint in your home, especially in a baby or child's bedroom; Benjamin Moore has a number of options including Aura, Nature, and ECOSpec. You can now get any color without VOC's, according to their March/April 2009 newsletter
- Try Sun & Earth laundry & dish soap, fabric softener, hand soap and glass cleaner; they contain natural based surfactants
- Reduce your "carbon footprint" by turning off computers, lights, TVs, pull the plugs on all chargers when not in use (cell phone, handheld game chargers, etc). For more, visit www.carbonfootprint.com
- When choosing electric utility suppliers, sign up with a "green supplier" who will procure electricity from renewable resources like wind and water
- Don't purchase products with excessive packaging, it just ends up in a landfill
- Try some low energy light bulbs, either LED or CFL type; side note -- when marketing your home for sale, use the 'daylight' type which gives off a warmer glow instead of that fluorescent glow which can distort paint colors
- Buy from companies who are environmentally responsible; the following businesses were featured as eco-friendly in "A Better World Shopping Guide"...Stonyfield Farms, Hewlett Packard, IBM, Toyota, Lexus, Scion, Ikea, Patagonia, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, REI, Newman's Own Organic Foods, Marcal and Seventh Generation paper towels, New Leaf Paper (available at Kinkos) and Living Tree Paper (for use in copiers, printers, etc.)
- Recycle paper, plastic, styrofoam, and glass at home
- Recycle all print cartridges; Staples allows 10 per month and you receive $3.00 in rewards for each one recycled if you are a Staples rewards member.
- Purchase shampoos and body care products that are "sulfate free" and biodegradeable.
- Contact a Redesigner or Home Stylist to revive or re-style any of your interior spaces for a new look!!
