April Dog of the Month ~ Dakota
Dakota - his name says it all - it is a Native American name which means "A friend to All". Dog of the Month - Callie
Making magical moments happen one child at a time....
Every day that Callie visits abused and neglected children wonderful things happen. Smiles appear on sad faces. Giggles emerge from quiet and withdrawn children. These children, many of whom have rarely experienced a gentle and loving touch from another human being, learn how to be "gentle" with another living creature and are rewarded by Callie with kisses. Hiking With Your Pet
Tips for a safe and happy hike!
Arizonans love to hike. This is the favorite time of the year for those of us living in or visiting the desert to enjoy as many outings as possible with our dogs, before the heat of the summer!
Hiking with our dogs is a great deal of fun, but it does involve some risks, and many will not recognize the signs of heat stress until it is too late. This doesn't just happen in the middle of the summer - it can alson happen in April and it's preventable!
Here are a few tips, so that you and your dog can enjoy hiking for many years to come.
1. Getting your dog in shape is a must! Dogs can be couch potatoes just like their human counterparts and are no more in shape than their owners.

Your Best Friend
"The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous, is the dog.
A man's dog stands by him in prosperity and in poverty, in health and in sickness. He will sleep on the cold ground, where the wintry winds blow and the snow drives fiercely, if only he may be near his master's side.
He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer; he will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounter with the roughness of the world.
He guards the sleep of his pauper master as if he were a prince. When all other friends desert, he remains. When riches take wings and reputation falls to pieces, he is as constant in his love as the sun in its journey thru the heavens."
A Dog Poem By: Senator George Vest - 1870
