Gabriel's Angels

January

2012

Greetings!

Happy New Year to you! Many of you have had some difficult times in recent months and our thoughts go out to you and your families, both human and canine. Others have had blessings and we thank you for letting us be a part of that!

One thing has really astounded us. No matter how difficult or how blessed things might have been for you, each of you has continued to give so much to the children with whom we work. Sometimes our words simply are not enough. So please take a look at the article entitled "Words From Our Partners" to see what the children and staff have to say about what you are doing for them!

As always, thank you for all you do!

Trick Training Seminar

On Saturday, March 10th Gabriel's Angels will offer a trick-training seminar for volunteer Therapy Teams and Helping Hands.  Brad Jaffe, from Team Canine, will be teaching volunteers some simple skills you can teach your dog. Not only is trick-training fun, but it requires patience, self-regulation, praise and many other social skills. These are all things we are helping the children to learn, so there are lots of parallels we can make when we work with the children to teach the tricks to our dogs!

During the seminar, volunteers will have an opportunity to work with "demo" dogs to teach them new tricks while a professional trainer teaches and assists. This will empower you to either train your own dog or to work with the children to train your dog.
Volunteers can mingle over light snacks and drinks to get to know each other better.
Sorry no four-legged friends allowed for this event.  Space is limited for the seminar, so please register early by clicking here! Call Kathy or Patti with any questions!
