Greetings!

Isn't October grand?  Days are cool and brisk, evenings are filled with scents of autumn. Children and pets dress up in costumes and bring us smiles.

We wish you a season of renewal and are grateful for the support you give to Gabriel's Angels. You are the reason that our 155 fabulous Pet Therapy Teams and their Helping Hands serve 13,000 at-risk Arizona children.

 Thank You!

Gabriel's Angels Celebrates Our Southern Arizona Volunteers
 Gabriel's Angels Volunteers
Gabriel's Angels welcomed our Southern Arizona volunteers back from their summer travels at a luncheon Saturday at El Parador Restaurant. We are fortunate to have such a great group of caring, dedicated volunteers working with at-risk children in Southern Arizona.

Stories From A

Tucson Pet Therapy Team

Cooper is a Cavalier King

Charles Spaniel that is a wonderful little boy to have around the house. Jason and

I got Cooper when a young enlisted airman could not keep Cooper and listed him on the public community board at the Spangdahlem Air Force Base, Germany, post office.

Cooper recently has em'bark'ed on a job that is of great importance and is full of civic duty-- he is a Gabriel's Angels Therapy Dog. I took a quick test on being a Therapy Team leader and Cooper took an obedience test. Cooper of course passed and nothing could prepare us for our time at the abused women and children's center. (We will leave this place unnamed for security reasons).

We arrive there in the late afternoon/ early evening and we enter the facility to check in. Already, you can hear the kids from across the center area yell "COOPER! COOPER'S HERE!" and squeals like you've never experienced before. By the time we leave the front office, we have incurred a crowd of kids.

There have been times where you can tell a child has had a bad day, but the moment he/she sees Cooper, his/her face lights up and the world of abuse, terror, and loneliness sudden melts away. I have had grown women come up and ask to pet Cooper. Cooper sat there while she gently rubbed his ears and he didn't judge the fact that she was crying and reminiscing about her two animals. As we were about ready to leave, she looked up at me and said "Thank you. I really do feel better now that I have pet Cooper. He really helped."

All of these women, and especially their kids, need something bright in their situation because they have, but the clothes on their backs, and many had to leave their own pets/homes/comforts/safety behind. Cooper is a gentle soul that tells the kids (in his own quiet way) that they don't have to fear the day to day struggles of living in an abusive home and happiness is just around the corner. I think we all need a little bit of "Cooper" in our lives.

About Gabriel's Angels

We believe that the BOND between a therapy dog and a child is strong enough to break the cycle of violence.

Without dedicated volunteers and supporters, 'OUR ANGELS' who share our passion in changing the lives of abused, neglected and at-risk children with Pet Therapy,
that bond would not be possible!

We sincerely thank all of our special ANGELS!
